January 21, 20233 yr Hello all, I want to build a new pc specifically for MSFS 2020 to run at Ultra settings and hope to keep this system for 5-6 years. I have shortlisted below specs :- Systems spec:- 1. Processor :- Intel i9 13900k 2. Motherboard :- Gigabyte AERO Z790 ddr5 wifi / MSI Tomahawk Z790 ddr5 wifi (confused which one to select) 3. Graphic card :- Zotac 4090 Trinity OC 4. RAM :- Teamforce Delta 6000mhz RGB ddr5 16gb x 2 sticks 5. SSD :- WD Black SN850x 1tb x 2 6. SMPS :- Cooler master 1250 MWE gold V2 ATX 3.0 pci e 5.0 7. Cooler :- DeepCool LT720 AIO 8. Cabinet :- Cooler Master MasterBox TD500 Mesh (Black) I have received quotations for the same and the average cost of build is Rs. 3,20,000 equivalent to USD 3,950. I do not plan to overclock this system. I am not keen to buy AMD processor since the resale value in India is far less compared to Intel's processors. Request your reviews on system and any suggestions. Thank you.
January 21, 20233 yr Hi i recently tried to upgrade my PC. i bought MSI DDR5 motherboard and DDR5 rams. the motherboard will not boot with DDR5 installed in DIMMA2, DIMMB2 as recommended by manual. Tried all combinations of rams but it only boot with DIMMB1, B2 with low performance notice, asking to put one ram in DIMMA2. The motherboard does boot with 4 DIMM (64GB). contacted MSI but still no solution.

We must leave slot nearest to CPU empty. Hope you get a reply soon from MSI. Thank you.
January 21, 20233 yr That's a monster PC hehe. I built a 12700K Z690 based system about a year ago. Last month I added a RTX 4080. I went with the MSI Z690 ddr5 tomahawk wifi. Good board so far - system has been really excellent. I've been running Kill a Watt as well to see power consumption and with MSFS running about an hour a day on average I only see peak of 400w or 500w when running VR (which of course demands more from the video card). My ram is a little slower I'm using Corsair Vengeance 5600mhz. Oh I've got an evga 850w psu as well. You'll easily be able to run max settings (maybe with terrain lod at 200-300 though) with AI traffic - especially using frame generation. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

MSI has very good customer base (+ great resale value) here in India. Currently i own an MSI Apache 7RG laptop. It has been 5 years and still running good but now it is not able to handle MSFS. With new PC, I plan to run at Max settings with AI traffic and fenix a320 but will focus on such setting where CPU and GPU are not always at full load and temperatures are in range. I plan to go with MSI Tomahawk but it does not have gen 5 m.2 nvme support which Gigabyte aero has. I have not been able to gather much information if gen 5 m.2 nvme would be any beneficial for MSFS. Thanks.

Some Asus boards, for example, reduce the number of lanes from the graphics card slot if you put a gen 5 m.2 card in m.2 port 1. This is what i was able to understand. Not sure if it is correct. Main aim is to future proof PC such that it doesnt become obsolete in coming 5 years. Thanks.
January 23, 20233 yr You'd be better with a 13700, the 900 is just a thermal-throttling-overpriced-oven. My $0.02. I even went the 13600K way as it is an even better solution, but to each his own. January 23, 20233 yr Ryzen 7950x3d will be released at February, they say it has at least %20 more performance from 13900k for games. Maybe you can wait a bit more. C. Uygar Aircraft Maint. Engineer. at LTFJ

AMD's new AM5 socket will be in use until 2025. Also as mentioned the 13900K is a heat-throttling space heater. Do consider 13600K or 13700K as I think their performance in MSFS will be in the same ballpark as the 13900K and in fact may beat it if the 13900K is throttling. Being in India, this is a consideration, I assume your climate can be hot at times. Also as mentioned AMD is releasing in February 3 cpu's which if the past is any guide will surpass any current Intel CPU in MSFS performance. If other apps are important to you though, the Intel may overall be better. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

Mine runs at 65 c, at 5.8 with cores loaded - nowhere near throttling temps. Obviously, if you fire up Cinebench etc. it’ll be a different story. January 30, 20233 yr You might want to do a little deep-dive research on the Zotac Trinity OC...I had one briefly until I read that its power delivery is pretty limited. I ended up returning it and swapping it out for a more pricey ASUS version. February 2, 20233 yr Author Hello, I am really very sorry for replying to your suggestions very late as my grandmother passed way last friday. Going through various forums and suggestions in this topic, I have decided to wait for 1 more month as 7950x3d is scheduled to be launched on 28th February. Let see how it outperforms i9 13900K in MSFS. Thank you.
