DX12 crashes my sim

Featured Replies

Same here with 4090 TI DX12.

Crashing with nvwgf2umx.dll, faulting module.

Also getting " your graphics device has stopped working "errors when switching from fullscreen to windowed mode.

Did some testing and found out that the latest drivers are causing this error.

Rolled back to 527.56 drivers and seems to be working better .

Don't know why the drivers post Jan 2023 are not working properly. Seems like MSFS and some NVIDIA drivers don't gell well together.

@planechaser thanks a lot for sharing your experience. Whats the driver version that you are using now? Cheers

@ZMLM79  Do you know how to use Windows event viewer?

You could check if it is the same faulting module as planechaser above causing the crash (nvwgf2umx.dll), which is an Nvidia file.
if so, roll the drivers back until they fix them.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Just tried again only using DX12 no HAGS and Frame Generation and the sim didnt crash. Trying to understand whats going on here 🙂

So you are saying you use frame generation with HAGS disabled ?
Then something must have changed.
As far as I know Frame Generation only works with HAGS enabled.

MSI Tomahawk Z790, I7-13700K, DDR5 6000mhz, MSI 4090, 3x SSD 980 PRO, Corsair 360 Liguid CPU cooler, Corsair H1200V2 power.

no no @altenae HAGS AND Frame Gen OFF. Only Dx12 enabled. no issues at all. CTD only happens with HAGS and frame gen turned on. I dont know how to do it @bobcat999. Hi can get if you let me know where to search

Hi all

I have not tried it for a while but I gave up on DX12 and frame generation due to CTD

I put it down to DX12 still being beta so I hope it is still being worked on?

Best wishes

Bob

Found that its not Dx12 but frame generation. When FG is on the sim crashes. Well back to dx11 🙂

Yes I really hope they are working on DX12 and FG. I have just installed a MSI 4090 and it has CTD several times.

Works OK in DX11 smooth with no problems.
