DX12 crashes my sim

Featured Replies

Morning all. Hope this message finds you all well. Recently i bought a 4070ti and i have enabled HAGS , TAA, DX12 and i have frame generation turned on. I am experiecing a lot of CTD. I wonder if this is expected and if there is a workaround so that i can still use DX12 and Frame Generation.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for your answer. I dont need HAGS turned on to be able to enable frame generation?

You don't need HAGS, disable it.

Really?  I was pretty sure Frame Generation required HAGS?

Just tried again only using DX12 no HAGS and Frame Generation and the sim didnt crash. Trying to understand whats going on here 🙂

Sorry, no idea about frame generation and if HAGS is required for that.

Did you ever clear your shadercache after switching to a novel GPU (even if it is from the same manufacturer, e.g. nVIDIA)? Did you ever clean your rolling cache etc. (although unlikely that this has any effect)?

I did remove all nvidia drivers before installing the new GPU. Interesting enough is that apparently the problem is not related to DX12 but having HAGS and Frame generation on. I am sure that there is something i can do or else we would have seen more people with the same issue.

Trying to run your shiny new video card on Ultra settings and are getting CTD - start there.  Step it down to "high" and test.

Tony P. Actually the card does not shine.. its black. I dont have everything on Ultra and the sim runs smooth either on DX11 or DX12 with no HAGS turned on. Thanks either way.

Well if you're still getting CTDs then check any overclocking CPU and Memory.  That can cause them too.

What power supply are you using? This could also be caused by a power issue... running something like 3DMark can help determine if its an issue with your computer or with MSFS.

@Funky D actually i have run 3DMark and got an excelent score. Green almost at 100%. I have a Cooler Master 750W Bronze.
