Cool spots west of Calgary?

Featured Replies

I rarely ever make my way out to Canada in the sim and I was lucky to get a flight out to Calgary in the SimbitWorld.
Any cool places to check out in the Rockies out there?

pretty much any flying west from Calgary is spectacular.  Bert mentioned the key areas, you can also fly further south then west to cross the Rockies and fly over the Frank Slide.  The scenery in the Kananaskis area is also beautiful.

In addition to what the others said (Banff etc) I also had a really good flight where I started in Calgary, followed the front of the Rockies southeast all the way into the U.S., landing at Starr-Browning (8S0).  The area west of Starr-Browning is Glacier National Park, really scenic.

You can get lost (in a good way) flying up Saint Mary Lake and flipping around and flying back out into the plains.  The vastness of the plains to the east is contrasted by massive peaks to the west.

If you're willing to travel a bit further west I'd also recommend Cranbrook (CYXC) and Castlegar (CYCG). Castlegar  - West Kootenay Regional - got some love in the Canada update and has some great approaches.
