where the posted speed is 75 and it goes to one lane and you get stuck behind someone going 60 for no apparent reason.

If the driver in the left lane is already doing 75, then there is no need for them to move over because nobody should be going faster than 75, right?

No, what I was saying, that you quoted, is when your on a one lane road with a posted limit of 75 and you get stuck behind someone going 60 in a 75 for no apparent reason and no one’s in front of them. It’s maddening, especially when it’s a toll road running parallel to a multi lane freeway and the freeway is moving faster because the dunce in front of you can’t even make the speed limit.

Yes, I understand that but I wonder how you feel if you are driving in the left lane at the speed limit and another driver comes up behind you at 10 or 15 mph over the speed limit. Should you feel obliged to get out of the way? Should everyone in the left lane move over because that one driver wants travel unimpeded at an illegal speed?

I also can’t forgive the fact that the old unwritten rule about the left lane being the “fast lane” has been forgotten.

Here in Arkansas, it is a written rule; the left lane is for passing ONLY. I've seen many folks stopped by the State Troopers for violating this rule. In nearly every case, it is some out-of-state yahoo who doesn't bother to read the signs when entering the state. Especially the one that screams "Zero Tolerance"... 🤪

I think some states have the rule of no passing on the right. Is that correct? Maybe some have it and some don't.

I believe the general rule is if you are in the fast lane doing the speed limit and some comes up behind you going faster then you should pull into the right lane so the idiot can pass you safely.  You don't want to make them do a dangerous right lane pass.

OK, now off of rules of the road and back to magical flying cars!  🤔

Better to wait till 2035 and buy the $35,000 4 seat model because it will make your $300,000 2 seat model lose at least 90% of its value at that time.

Yeah!  Funny that these articles or videos never mention if doing something like that will be legal!

One hint might be my experience in Texas. One day near the city of Denton, Tx this happened: On I-35 there was a big wreck. People started driving through a bar ditch to get on an access road. Yes, I was one of them. A cop pulled 3 of us over and said if it were not for him being needed at the accident site he would write us up. He said we failed to maintain the roadway by going through the ditch. I would suspect that the police would find some way to ruin your plan.😁

Yes, if I’m in the left lane, doing the speed limit or a little over the limit, and I see someone coming up behind me I move over so they can pass. To me, that’s the courteous thing to do. I’m not going to make him pass me on the right since. The problem is, a lot of people don’t drive with that courtesy when they’re in the left side and they end up holding up traffic behind them instead of moving over to let faster traffic by.

Now, if I’m on a two lane road and I’m going the limit or a little over and someone comes up behind wanting to go faster than I’m comfortable going, they’re going to have to pass me on the left when safe. I’m not going to go more than 10 mph over the limit for their sake and risk getting a ticket.

Didn’t know that. Wish that law existed here in Texas and was enforced.

Texas needs a law that says that unless you can go the speed limit, your not allowed to enter toll roads 😂😂 Pretty much every work day I get hung up on this particular toll road in Dallas that’s two lanes on each side with a 75 mph limit. It then goes to one lane for an about a 5 mile stretch, but the speed limit is still 75. Without fail, every time, I get stuck behind someone in the one lane section doing like 55-60 mph with no one in front of them and I can’t figure out why they always go so slow.

In March I took an Uber to DFW to catch a flight. My Uber driver was one of these left lane slow drivers, like 15 under the limit slow. She was really nice and everything else was fine, but the whole way she was just creeping down the road.

When I was dropped off I tipped her but left feedback on the app that she was nice, car in fine condition, but was upset that she couldn’t do the speed limit. Uber saw my feedback and apologized and gave me a $20 ride credit for my next trip.

The problem with people going so slow in the wrong lane is that it causing people to be passing on the right and weaving in and out of traffic which sometimes results in accidents. Combine that with the fact that so many people are fiddling with their phones while driving and not paying attention, it’s no wonder why so messed up.

Rule #1 for driving in Arkansas is never attempt to outdrive the ASP, they are all highly trained professional drivers and their primary means of ending pursuit is a "Tactical Vehicle Interception" (TVI; aka "Pit Maneuver"). That is a rather antiseptic way of describing the physical act of literally swatting your vehicle off the road. Although they are not supposed to perform a TVI above forty mph, there are hundreds of dashcam videos proving that rule is frequently broken. There are some that have been done in excess of 140 mph!!!!

There are far safer ways to stop a fleeing vehicle, such as a device called a "Grappler." It is a web that replaces the bull bars on a police car that is lowered just a few inches above the road surface and is then driven until it "snags" the left rear tire of the subject vehicle. In a matter of only a few feet it will totally immobilize the target and bring it safely to a stop!

In the Alef video, at around 0:25 you can see yellow objects suspended in the air. Are they traffic lights? It's a bit like Futurama.

Also, at 2:50, it says the 1-2 seater can take off in whitelisted areas only and the 4-6 seater can take off anywhere except blacklisted areas. What does that mean?

This is all I can find, so far!

“Cities will mark certain areas in which takeoff and landing is okay, areas where flight is okay and areas where you can never go. The idea is, at first, you have a very small amount of designated white-listed areas for landing and taking off. This can then be expanded over time and in the future hopefully the majority of the city will available.”

I'm guessing the 'Areas you can never go" will be the blacklisted areas.

You may be right. It says "the initial top speed of 35 mph will comply with regulations for low-speed electric vehicles." Does that mean airborne vehicles like ultralights?

According to CNN

"The company’s website said the flying car will be a certified as a “low speed vehicle,” which means it won’t be able to go faster than about 25 miles per hour on a paved road."

"The company also said that earlier this year that it had taken refundable pre-orders for more than 400 of the vehicles, with the cost of $150 for to be in the general queue or $1,500 for the priority queue."
