I have an RTX2060 Super and want to upgrade but spend no more than $500.  Everybody is dissing on the 4060TI because it offers little performance improvements over the 3070.  Okay, but what about over the 2060 super? Is it worth it then?  I need help here!

Thanks!

I think that people put far too much emphasis on raw performance. The 40 series is a big jump over the 20s.

If you are going to use the card for flight-simming mainly and considering you have a budget limit, the 4060Ti seems like a decent deal as it will offer you the chance to use DLSS3 which practically doubles the framerate in MSFS.
I would opt for the 16GB model.

The above suggestion is not first-hand experience with the card but gleaned by reading through various reviews. Do your due diligence as these purchases are not cheap.

Cheers.

I think it really depends upon which flight sim you are using.  FSX or P3D v4 or older, probably not much improvement as these sims rely primarily upon the CPU.  But for sims that make significant use of the video card, I think a 4060-Ti would be a good upgrade from a 2060-S, assuming your CPU is not the bottleneck.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

Good question.  I forgot I'm no longer in the MSFS forum!  Yes, it's for MSFS.  I have a 2.9ghz i7-10700f with 32gb ram.

4060

4060ti

(I don't see anything about 4060 Super)

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

When I jumped from 2060 super to 3070, I gained 45% framerate. Where it was very dense and difficult scenery and I only go 25 fps, it was now 36 etc.

Here's a good place for a guestimate:

For MSFS, going from a 2060-S to a 4060-Ti is likely a good upgrade, especially with an I7-10700F CPU.

Wait for the higher memory version of the 4060 Ti, the 8GB model is seriously compromised. Or payout a helluva lot more for a 4070.
