AI traffic at airports already improved??

Featured Replies

I did not follow the discussion about this topic lately. So I'll ask here. I have AIG installed and FSLTL. It works fine; lots of traffic at busy airports and in the air. But there are are problems with taking off, taxiing to gates, taxiing to rwy atc.

I own EGGP from digital design. Taxiing to the rwy seems fine, but the AI AC doesn't contact the tower at the holding point. It just turns to the rwy (27) and then nothing. It stops at the runway. I've set the timer in FSLTL at 120 seconds. So just afther 120 secs the AC just disappears and has never made a takeoff. I dont' know if it's the same at rwy 09. At EGPH (default airport) taxiing to rwy and taking off works fine, but there is a problem with arrivals. As soon as the AC is on the taxiway and has to go the gates, it just stops at the taxiway. Nothing until the timer has finished and disappears of course.

Is this still the ' normal' behaviour after so many updates from the fsltl injector. Regarding EGGP, does digital design have to update the 'afcad' file? I don't know what's going on. Or is it beacause the default atc is crappy and is the solution to buy fshud, p2atc or other atc.

Who can enlighten me?

Thank you,

Rein

ATC won't help you, it's the traffic engine. Noone but Asobo can fix it.
For some improvement look at flightsim.to for AIFlow and AIGround.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

ai traffic in msfs is a joke at the moment until asobo put some intention to fix it, traffic after 3 years since release  still  worse than fsx or fs 2004.  best alternative now is fshud atc  at least control the ai traffic in a decent way.

FSHud is your only option right now for a better AI traffic logic. It is still in Beta though.

It was mentioned that VoxATC is also working on its own AI traffic logic. But it is not available yet.

All other "ATC" addons rely on the crappy default logic and only "control" a single aircraft - yours.

An alternative would be to use PSXT with Real Traffic. But ATC - neither default nor any addon - would not be aware of these aircraft. And you need a quite expensive subscription.

Je kunt ook voor een Nederlands product gaan (PSXTraffic), doet alles wat je mist .

Best option for realistic AI ground movement, meaning you want them to taxi, land, follow SID/Stars AND use the correct runway for Winds (something which FSLTL still doesn't do due to Asobo) is PSXT + Real Traffic, downside you need a subscription for Real Traffic about £11 a month.

If this is important to you, it's worth it imo.  You can pay for 1 monthly sub to try it out, if you like it you can renew.

Real time live traffic for MSFS, Prepar3D and FSX (lekseecon.nl)

RealTraffic - Fly with real air traffic (flyrealtraffic.com)

Of course the above won't help with the dodgy inbuilt ATC.  The not yet released "Beyond ATC" looks like a promising addon.

I can’t wait to learn if AI traffic will be much better in MS2024. Its already been mentioned that real world liveries and more AI models will be there (unsure if that means on release day) but that’s only valuable if traffic logic works. And they better flare, not pancake down.
