ASP6 will not connect to P3DV6

Featured Replies

Ok, so I bit the bullet and puchased V6 ( I knew I would 😄).

The problem I have is that ASP6 (Latest version) will not connect to P3D.(Patch 2)

I have uninstalled and reinstalled many time but I just cannot get it to connect !!

It complains that the 'connecter' is not running and to make sure that Active Sky is enabled within P3D addons, which it is.

Also whats this about when I go to install the connector ? :-

Any ideas, please?

Make sure you are running beta version 8598 of ASP6 (or later), and that you installed the connector that came with that version.

That's exactly what I'm doing @Bob Scott .

Plus the above folder is AFAIK 'valid' as I have FSUIPC installed there and that is working.

Cheers.

You have it installed in a onedrive (cloud) folder?  That sure seems odd to me.

I'd recommend contacting HiFiSim to see if running it off a networked or cloud-based drive presents any special issues e.g. firewall, permissions etc.

I know it looks like that, but its not MS Onedrive, it is in fact a local folder called 'Onedrive', goes back years before the MS Cloud thingy.

Windows 11 or 10, make sure windows defender is not blocking folder. With secureity updates rolling through it seems settings change. Just go and exclude folder to be sure

Is there an ActiveSkyP6 folder in the default folder location? -- C:\users\<your_account_name>\Documents\Prepar3D v6 Add-Ons

Yes, there is and that's where 'ActiveSky' is and it is appearing as active in P3d addons.

Win 11, I'll try the exclusion.............

Edited to add...........No luck with the exclusion.😢

Something does appear wrong with that path shown in the screenshot and just a guess, but it appears to be a configuration/installation issue based on incorrect paths.  Onedrive is not specified that way to my knowledge.  A support ticket at http://hifisimtech.zendesk.com is always available for direct HiFi support.

The folder is just an ordinary folder named 'Onedrive' and has the 'documents' folder within it.

All previous versions of P3D along with all previous versions of Active Sky worked perfectly when installed using the 'documents' folder here.

Just wondering what has changed to cause this problem and is there any easy solution?

  • Author

Still no luck, looks like I'll have to raise a ticket at HiFi.

The maddening thing is that EVERYTHING else works perfectly with the 'Documents' folder and does not complain

about it not being 'verified'. Even earlier versions of Active Sky installed and worked fine.

Here's a pic of the folder:-

I'm not sure what this image is supposed to tell us. It shows a Documents folder, but you said earlier that it is not the Windows Documents folder that you are using, but another folder, which you have called Documents, buried within another folder which you have called Onedrive.  Giving home created folders the same names as Windows systems folders, never seems like a good idea.

Since other users are not having these issues, it's very likely the problem is your unconventional folder structure. The fact that things have worked previously is no guarantee that will continue.

Is there a good reason not to use the tried and tested conventional folder arrangements.

No, what I said was that it is not the Ms Onedrive cloud.

😄 😄 Can't get rid of those smilies.(on my phone)

Years ago I moved and linked my 'documents' from my C drive and for some reason I placed it back inside a folder I named Onedrive on a different HD.

BTW, the pic of the folder is to show all the other addons within that folder that work, proving the structure is valid, while ASP6 doesn't.

I was aware of that, which is why I said 'within another folder which you have called Onedrive'.  Regardless of whether other addons work with your arrangement, it does not seem a good idea to have important folders with the same name as Windows system folders.

Regarding ASP6, those with conventional folder structures do not seem to be having problems.

It is a conventional folder structure just not in the usual place! Simply moved using conventional windows options. No hoodwinkery or trickery.

The fact that there are many GBs of data there and thousands of files all working as they should, bears out that all is well with how/where I have chosen to set up the windows 'documents' folder.

ASP6 "sees" Activsky there and communicates with it, it just won't connect to P3DV6.
