That wasn’t my point. I was saying the sim requires Microsoft to keep the MSFS world alive (or at least, ‘enhanced’).  I haven’t fired up the sim in days so the odd server outage has little impact on me.

Well, yeah, streaming massive amounts of satellite data off a server does usually require it to be online. It's not really the best case to make any sort-of statement against always-online and service based sims. MSFS was still available when the server was down, so people weren't locked out either.

I keep getting massive crashes at the flight planning screen...  It's happened 4 times in a row now.  Was working fine yesterday and I have not added anything or changed settings.

I started thinking it was hardware related because the screen freezes, audio freezes then the computer hangs for 30 seconds before fully restarting. So it's good to see everyone is having strange issues.

I'm wondering if this is related to being in the southwest... perhaps a server overload.

Yep, thats whats going on. Tucson Sedona... instant crash.  Pacific Northwest solid and stable as a very large rock.

When I lander at ORBX ESSA last night there were trees all over the runway and airport. Never seen that at ESSA before but did have it once before at FlyTampas YSSY and it turned out to the photogametry issue. Maybe this server issue explains the trees

Well my flight went well with all data available… except for the landing when there was a 100 kts crosswind. My 787 basically floated abeam the runway like a UFO.
So live weather seems to be infected, too.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
