edit: Loading a custom saved preset from Atmosphere page instantly crashes my sim.

I have to agree with what you said above: the atmosphere-presets aren‘t that great and i had to switch them off because default is better also for me. But that‘s the good thing about it: we can switch on or off what we like or not. The best part for me is the settings for clouds that we can adjust. And also the light intensity that allowed me for example to increase the RWY-lighting during bad visibility and during the day (default they are barely visible). 
But no crash at all so far for me. I hope you can find the reason, the dev will help when we have issues.
