I haven't seen them yet, but the fact that I haven't seen them doesn't mean they don't exist.

👍 that's the right attitude for beta testing.

Is there a chance of a sarcastic free post anywhere in the future?

Your post was actually good until the last line.  You demonstrated good looking clouds and then bad, with a useful suggestion about time of day.

yes, but not constantly. it can change from one moment to the next while I change nothing but time of day. its much more obvious if you slew closer using the map. I used xplane's built-in real world weather today, flying from EGLC to EHAM.

from wow:

...

to Not so much wow,

same location, only change: time of day

...

I know, my problem, user error and so on.

Did you slew, then pause and change time of day?

Could be a cloud LOD refresh issue then, although this would not explain that the issue also occurs on regular flights.

On the other hand, I've seen a few strange messages from the METAR parser in the developer console in 12.06b7, so it may be that this is simply the result of some bug.

I was told by Goran it didn't happen on his system and therefore it is my own problem. therefore I see no need for beta testing any further or by a big, very diverse group of testers (who try to help and identify the problem, like yourself) with lots of different configurations. if it works on the developer's system that's all that counts. therefore I won't investigate this any further.

Yes, yes, you've made that clear now 😐 Now start reading how folks are actually trying to help (as Goran did too).

I'll be back if/when the next beta hopefully has fixed this, but my hopes are low. they said it was fixed already in beta 6, but wasn't. good luck.

There is a discussion on the other forum about this. Its very random so hard to pic. Lots of queries about how or why, but I dont think anyone has a real answer.

I don't give up easily when it comes to investigating potential bugs. 🧐
I did another flight again, always with real weather, and always in the same Swiss location,... and this time... Bingo!... I saw anomalous clouds.

After this test I confirm that it's not your PC that has problems, it's XP12 that has problems, beta7 has a bug in the clouds, it's confirmed.
Users who say they've never seen it have simply been very lucky, they probably didn't find the meteorological situation conducive to the formation of those strange clouds. 🤞

just as a maybe.

have you tried deleting/renaming the shader cache....

(general belief is this wont help, but I am reasonably sure it has fixed wierdness for me, and the new one has come back different than the old)

renaming is better because then you can A/B test.

As I said, not all users have had the good fortune (or bad luck) to see that bug. 🤷‍♂️
If Goram and other users say they've never seen it, I believe them, they're probably all telling the truth.

However it is widely known that the bug already existed in beta6, and I can now confirm that it exists in beta7 as well.
If the bug really didn't exist I would never have seen it. 🧐
I understand that it's a rare bug and it's hard to see... ok... we're all agreed.
But it exists !

In the next patches they will fix the problem. 🤞

Probably all location related. Havt seeing it here in Aus. But than the 560xl wouldnt start in AU but would everywhere else. But bug found and fixed

Janov has stated that there are plans to adress cloud issues. Wont expect it soon. more important things to do

Good job, so at least this means it's not likely just something on Turbomax's machine (driver issue, etc) ... I tried and simply couldn't reproduce the problem, but I was only trying one location around my home airport with various settings and weather options.

I'm not sure if it's luck I've never seen this, or just that I'm boring and tend to fly in the same place most of the time
