September 1, 20232 yr For some reason, I can hit my #2 button on my joystick and my gear on ALL planes that have retractable gear goes up and down. On Amphibians, however, the #2 button does nothing. I can't get my gear to go up and down on these amphibians. Any clues on how to fix this? Stan

Stan By the way, the #2 button is the one I have programmed to extend and retract landing gear. It just doesn't work on amphibian aircraft.

September 2, 20232 yr I have a button on my joy stick assigned to "Toggle landing gear". I just tried with the default Icon A5 and no problems. Maybe double check your key assignments? Occasionally MSFS updates will mess with mine.

Namely, Cub Crafters X Cub -Floats, Textron Aviation Cessna 172, DH 2 Beaver, and Shock Ultra. All of these planes have gear that should retract (they do in P3d), but I cannot understand why my mapped button on my joystick, works with all other planes in MSFS, including the Icon, but not with these pontoon-type planes. September 2, 20232 yr I just did a couple of quick take offs with the amphibian C172 and DH2 Beaver, and in both cases the landing gear came up and lowered again just fine toggling my assigned key. I tried a few times in both cases without problem. All I can think to suggest is to check that you don't have two assignments for the same key that might be running interference with each other.

I'll check that. Thanks
September 3, 20232 yr Do the gear move if you press the "g" key? If they don't, try clearing out your community folder and trying again, since there's been issues in the past where an addon will somehow disable the gear on amphibians.

Pardon my ignorance on this, but how do you "clear out" a community folder without causing issues in the sim? What is the proper procedure for doing this? I certainly would like to try it; that may help.

No need to delete anything. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). Thank you Bobcat999, You have solved my problem! I did exactly that with my Community folder and took a quick flight. All the amphibians worked perfectly. It was the very first time I ever saw the gear come up and go down in those pontoon planes. Now. There is obviously something wrong in my Community folder. What is your suggestion on how to find the culprit? Sorry to ask for more help here, but you seem to know what your doing. Any help would be appreciated. Stan

Stan As Bert says above, take a look at that thread. When I had this problem it was a freeware C172 float plane from FS.to that caused it. There was an incompatibility. I removed it from the Community folder and everything was fine. Note that the freeware version was released before Asobo released their own float plane version of the C-172, that is why I installed the freeware version from FS.to. Obviously not needed afterwards, but I forgot it was in the Community folder. If it is the excellent G36 Bonanza improvement mod causing the problem, there may be a newer version of that plane now. If not, I can recommend the Robert Young version, or the excellent payware version from Black Square available from JustFlight. How I test is to create a folder next to the Community folder simply called 'Community Old'. I drag and drop any unwanted or suspect addons into that folder and restart the sim to test (no need to delete anything!). That way, if the addon folder you moved was not the culprit, you can simply drag it back to Community. Unfortunately, you do need to restart the sim in between changes for them to take effect - it can be a pain! Good luck! THAT did not fix my problem, however. It must be some other mod or entry in the folder that's doing it. I will go through the process of elimination as suggested in this thread. Thanks, Bert. Nice hearing from you. Stan
September 4, 20232 yr Author With all of your help, friends, I was able to pinpoint the problem with my amphibious planes. It wasn't the Bonanza G36 Improvement Project that caused the problem...because when I removed it, I still had the issue of the gear not moving. It WAS the Bonanza Turbo V3 that caused the problem. When I removed that entry from the Community Folder, all amphibious vehicles worked perfectly. I downloaded the new V4 version for the Bonanza, and that does NOT interfere with the other planes in my hanger. Thank you again for helping me get this right.
