  1. After some messing with settings (turns out the lens correction setting in MSFS causes some issues), I got this working smoothly, but I'm getting a weird tearing effect only on the landing gear and parts of the runway when on the ground. It goes away as soon as the airplane lifts off, so I'm wondering if anyone found a fix for that particular issue.
  2. I've tried using the the "compress files to save disk space" option on my community folder (I use addon linker, so it's not the official community folder), and it saves a significant amount of disk space without a noticeable impact on loading times, so that may be worth a shot.
  3. In general, most faster GA airplanes require coming in with a bit of power down final and only reducing power to idle in the flare, since the prop tends to acts like an air brake at idle. While the turbos do need a little time to spool up, GA piston engines operate inside a much narrower RPM range than automotive engines, so it's normally not an issue because GA engines have much flatter power curves than automotive engines, so the turbo lag isn't that big of a deal unless you're slamming in power for a go-around.

    I’ll be Back!

Unless the global airline industry and passenger demand completely changed when no one was watching, that video is a load of clickbait BS, since Boeing has announced nothing of the sort, and in June, their CEO said of a new airplane; “[But] that would not lend itself to something at the high end of the seat capacity. That’s the best I can tell you. I know everyone would like me to stand up here and design the new airplane for you. That’s not going to happen.” The entire reason the 747 (and A380) went out of production was that the long haul airline business model has shifted away from large airplanes going from hub to hub (NY to London), to slightly smaller ones flying out of cities that might not be hubs (Nashville to London), and since the air cargo market (at least in the US) is getting hit pretty hard at the moment, there's absolutely zero reason Boeing would consider restarting the 747 line, let alone spending the billions of dollars a redesign of the airplane would cost.
  5. AIG is scheduled airlines (and some corporate fleets too), so unless the airports you like have airline service (or scheduled cargo feeders), AIG won't do anything there. However, AIG has said they're working on a system that'll add GA aircraft to smaller airports, but there's no timeline for when it'll be out. There's a couple of other add-ons (freeware and payware) that add more GA traffic, so those are probably more what you're looking for.
  6. This problem showed up in SU13, and hasn't been fixed as of the most recent SU14 beta, although Asobo is aware of it, and thought the SU14 beta had a fix. Specifically, it only affects the P-51's that have the fuselage tank installed and where that tank defaults to 100% full, so the generic P-51 and Goldfinger are the only two fuselage tank equipped Mustangs that don't have the issue.
  7. Well, at least they're not attempting copyright infringement against Disney this time, but they'll probably make up for that by threatening to sue anyone who uploads repaints again.
  8. Do the gear move if you press the "g" key? If they don't, try clearing out your community folder and trying again, since there's been issues in the past where an addon will somehow disable the gear on amphibians.
  9. That's actually very common on older airplanes. From my experience flight instructing, the vast majority of airplanes that had a GPS retrofitted (especially a G4/530) usually had one of the VOR indicators replaced with one compatible with the Garmin, and the second one was often original to the airplane (and tied to an old standalone nav radio), and didn't have glideslope capability.
  10. "This is the worse thing ever, and Asobo strangles puppies!" "This is the greatest thing ever, and Asobo is giving out free puppies!" Think that about covers it.
  11. The A-10 clearly being armed with a 30mm flashlight will never not be funny.
  12. They have. As a previous poster already said, Carenado has been going through and patching pretty much all of their "branded" releases (not the stuff sold under the "Famous flyers" label), which has resulted in a bunch of bug fixes and improvements being made to those airplanes. There's still a few bugs here and there, but they're pretty minor for the most part, and I'll give Carenado credit for apparently realizing that the "release product, release one patch, never speak of it again" business model they'd used in the past needed to go away.
  13. Shock cooling airplane engines is something of an "old wives tale", since you'll see people talking about it, but operations that should be going through cylinders like crazy if shock cooling was common (flight schools and skydiving operations) largely don't have any issues related to it. On engines with reduction gears, rapidly reducing the power (or reducing it too far) can result in a situation where the propeller is driving the gearbox, which isn't good for the engines, but damage from thermal shock after a power reduction isn't common. https://www.avweb.com/ownership/shock-cooling-time-to-kill-the-myth/
  14. Disney is famous for being spectacularly litigious towards anyone/anything that even looks like it might infringe on their copyrights, they've basically written US copyright law for quite a while, and they've spent decades running their own government in Florida, so that surprising part is that it took them that long to act.
  15. Having never flown an airplane with one, I can't speak from personal experience, but I'd assume that was generally how it was done, since moving card ADF indicators (which I have flown with) are used the same way.
  16. When MSFS was released, the HUD on the real world Longitude wasn't actually certified yet (I think it got certified some time in late 2021), so that's probably why it wasn't included.
  17. You're not missing anything there. That style of DG was fairly common when the T-37 was designed in the 1950's, but it was replaced with the more modern "moving card" style on newer aircraft like the T-38. I don't know if the T-37's ever had a newer DG retrofitted, but all the photos I've seen of Tweet cockpits show the "moving needle" style DG.
  18. The inertia and twitchiness seem about what I'd expect for something like a giant, heavy biplane (lots of inertia, not much twitchiness), and the only issue I've got with the FM so far is the lack of flap drag, and maybe some airframe drag, since it seems.to be about 15-20kt faster at a given power setting than what's been written in various pilot reports of the actual airplane.
  19. An-2's were built in several locations. The initial production run was largely in Kyiv, with further production happening in Russia (near Moscow), but a sizable proportion the total AN-2 production (about 13,000 of the 19,000 built) happened in Poland, with that line finally closing down in 1991. After 1991, low-rate production from existing spares happened in Poland, and there were also some AN-2's built under license in China.
  20. The only issue I've seen so far is that the flaps don't appear to add much (if any) drag, so slowing down on approach is pretty difficult, especially for an airplane that's as draggy as the AN-2 Other than that, the flight model is great, and the 3d model (inside and outside) is top-notch, so the AN-2 is well worth the buy.
  21. The description on .to mentions something about using the left hand cabin heat control to reset or disable the engine damage, but I can't quite figure out what that means, since I don't know what the "in conjunction with the engine selector switch" part of the description is referring to.
  22. My understanding is that there's tools out there that can intercept that information in MSFS or somehow extract it, but I've got zero clue how they work, or what the legal situation with them is.
  23. I can't see the CIA using aircraft carriers to ship their airplanes, since that kind of defeats the whole "plausible deniability" thing they were going for with Air America.
  24. Assuming the Caribou was fitted with a ferry tank to make the leg from the lower 48 to Hawaii, it would have been pretty straightforward to then island hop across the Pacific to SE Asia.
  25. For whatever reason, Cub Crafters doesn't have the POH for the XCub on their website, but Bush League Legends put together a set of performance charts and checklists (along with some really good mods for the airplanes) that should help. https://www.bushleaguelegends.com/addons/msfs/msfs-mods
