September 5, 20232 yr Interesting YT video. Both outside and inside views. The cockpit views show the clarity or lack thereof on glass screens. He is using the same CPU which I now have the Ryzen 7 58003DX. 4070 GPU (which I will also have in about 3 days). Monitor is 4K, 16:9 ---------------- First, with TAA and no FG (frame generation): fps about 41 outside, 48 inside cockpit Next, DLSS 2 (Quality), also no FG: About 58 outside, 69 inside. (I have similar relative results on my system). (My 3070 gpu has no FG capabilities. Dual 1440p 16:9 monitors, almost as many pixels as one 4K 16:9 screen. Ryzen 7 5800X3D) ------------ Next, he uses both TAA and frame generation on, fps about 54 outside, 70 inside. (which shows that FG has increased the fps under TAA) Next, both DLSS 3 (Quality) and FG on. fps 81 outside , maybe 88 inside. ---------------- He goes on to use 1440p screen and a HD 1080p screen doing the same kind of tests. ---- This video is a good demo of what the 4000 series Nvidia cards can do using DLSS 3 and frame generation compared to other video cards not having DLSS 3 or FG capabilities. And how TAA can sharpen glass displays vs. DLSS 2 and DLSS 3. It reinforces what I read online, that a 4070 gpu plus a good cpu, is a really very good match for one 16:9 1440p monitor. (He's getting over 135 fps inside and out with DLSS 3 and FG at 1440p). But they say for 4K and a good cpu, then a higher gpu (4090) is a better match (4090 32 GB RAM vs. 4070 12 GB) 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. September 5, 20232 yr Thx for the link. So what is now the suggestion from your point of view? I have a RTX4080 in my gaming Laptop Thx Mark
September 5, 20232 yr Thanks. Can’t watch the video now but will tomorrow. I don’t feel a need to use DLSS scaling to get added performance. Just FG for me at 4K native is generally giving me fantastic FPS with a 7800x3D and 4090. It doesn’t sound like he tested it, but there’s a third choice for antialiasing… DLAA which uses Nvidia’s ML models and tensor cores to do anti-aliasing but without DLSS scaling. I really encourage every GA flyer to try DLAA vs TAA. It’s a quick and easy test. Find a windsock or antenna or other artificial small detail at the airport at some distance from your plane… and then try switching back and forth. I found thin details at a distance didn’t even render with TAA, but I had a bit of ghosting on my displays with DLAA. Updating my DLSS DLL sharpened up the cockpit without losing the details. Then I rebuilt my system and I was surprised that my cockpit is as sharp as ever with DLAA - no ghosting at all. I have no idea why, but I’m now using the DLSS DLL that came with the game (beta SU13) and it’s perfect. Fine details in the distance and sharp cockpit instruments. I dunno. Try for yourself. You might be amazed. Edited September 5, 20232 yr by Virtual-Chris

September 5, 20232 yr Still a case of TAA looks better and DLSS performs better for me and that seems to concur with most users analysis of the situation from what I have seen. As I only have a mere RTX3080 I can't really comment on the FG aspect. Most of the time I use DX12 and DLSS as the performance gain is greater than the visual loss but for better visuals DX11 and TAA looks much better but as I have so many performance hungry addons I can't really use it. I have a RTX4080 in my gaming Laptop Thx Mark RTX 4080 is about the best there is. Has a full 16GB. The only thing I know of that's better is the 4090. I'm not going on experience, I've never used anything nearly so grand. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. September 5, 20232 yr Here with both 4080/4090 cards I use Unlimited + FG On icw 4K Sony Bravia TV’s ( running at 60 hertz ).Works well. Surely with G sync monitors it might be different. September 5, 20232 yr Yes 4070 Ti is great as long you are in the air, but on the ground at add-on airports 12 GB Vram isn't nearly enough, at least not for me with a 3440x1440 monitor, I can't recommend this card for MFSF, save up for a 4080 instead.
