A Murky Morning (RGK - DPA)

Featured Replies

DPA was just released (by Flight FX on the marketplace, Contrail, flightsim.to) and I intended to fly a relaxing IFR flight down to DuPage from Red Wing, MN.  There were a couple of storms in the area which made for some nice views so I turned the flight into a screenshot one haha.

Not a whole lot to tell about this flight - I need to do a mini review of DPA eventually, perhaps on a more sunny day.

Leaving Red Wing with low overcast (but still a nice view of the Mississippi River - which divides MN from WI in this area - the town of Red Wing is in MN but the airport is in WI !)

Southern MN/WI is mostly farm fields but also rolling countryside... it's quite beautiful think

I guess that's what I love about flying - it's a murky day down below but sunny up here!

A tiny view of the Wisconsin River - the state's longest river roughly 430 mi - which mostly flows north to south (in this area it's more east to west)

I think we'll descend because the tops appear to be well about 9k

Here in the upper midwest you'll find a lot of quaint towns.  There's probably a church and a bar at least!

Crispy moved all of his to flightsim.com - he's one of the finest painters in MSFS

Interesting flight (as expected) with a few chuckles thrown in. Agree, that's a very nice livery.

Thanks for the pics and the reference to the very nice collection of SR22 liveries from Crispy. Flying the Cirrus SR22 is a joy and now even better with the improved G1000 using the recently released Navigraph plugin.

Cheers, Ed

Oh you betcha!  I haven't purchased yet but I'm considering the Boris audio for the SR22.  It's a decent little bird with flight model mod, well equipped avioncs.  Just needs better sounds...  anyone have the Boris audio works pack?

It's aways a pleasure to follow your interesting flights, Ryan!!

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080

Oh...so where are you staying locally....🙂 ... you've flown and landed just a few miles north of my residence....

For many years, I used to stay in the West Suburbs...and during the weekends, I would take the Roosevelt Road to a local grocery...that road runs past the DPA Airport, actually there is a side street (which I preferred) that goes right by the entrance/gate of this airport (with the Flight Training Center signboard) ...also hard to miss the lined-up training a/c of the type you're flying, just across the airport fence line...

Anyway, very interesting and enjoyable pictures of your flight and commentary...!

Your observed weather seemed exactly right for what it was a couple of days ago here (rainy and cloudy), but yesterday was bright and sunny...a beautiful fall day...was riding around in my Electric Bike, so I know ...🙂 ... (maybe, after you're well-rested, you could head out for an aerial tour of the parts of the city and downtown, away from these Suburbs...)

Thanks for this flight and the post...!

Excellent Cirrus post Ryan, great paint btw.
