Can someone please remind me how DX 12 is supposed to be better than DX 11? (I know that DX 12 is still no flushed out yet)

DX11 - No frame generation
DX12 - Frame Generation

For me, that's enough. I do get some of the tile issues, but it's not enough of a pester for me not to keep it for frame generation. The scenery tiles popping in isn't super frequent for me either. I believe in the latest twitch stream they pretty much said DX12 is good to go. Personally, I don't have a ton of issues with DX12 and very much prefer it over DX11.

Thanks, can my 3080 support FG? How do I turn it on?

Unfortunately frame generation is limited to the 40xx series cards. The performance gains you see with a 40xx series card and frame generation is absolutely stunning and mind blowing for me. To get a consistent 100+ fps on a 4k 48" LG C2 monitor is amazing. The lowest I've had were in the 70s during a large FNO event on VATSIM with a ton of traffic. Here is a video that was done a few months back that shows these gains with frame generation. Frame generation requires you to use DX12 and is not available if you use DX11. So I can understand why you may not have the same appreciation for it that I do. Hope this helps!

Frame Generation isn't worth the image quality sacrifice. For me anyway. With my 4070ti I get 60fps at 4K, ultra settings all day long. Smooth as silk, too. As soon as I switch to DX12 and Frame Generation I get around 100-120 fps, but the clarity drops probably 20%. It's very noticeable when looking at gauges.

There is a big know issue with the gauges/displays that needs to be fixed.

What are you using for your AA settings? Are you using TAA or DLSS?

To follow up - do not use DLSS for AA with frame generation. If you use DLSS, you will discover you sacrifice a lot! Use TAA instead. You'll lose a few fps (nothing serious) and gain the sharpness you're looking for, but with TAA and frame generation, there really isn't any sacrifice and it's now the gold standard for this sim.

Basically, Nvidia are milking their own customers to upgrade their video cards to get FG. Their 'excuses' for not bringing FG to older cards are weak.  What we do know is AMD are working on finalizing FSR 3.0 which will support AMD's version of FG - but on older cards. And not just AMD but Nvidia also!  So mark my words. What I expect is going to happen in the next 6 months:

  1. Nvidia stick to current plans with DLSS 3.5
  2. AMD release FSR 3.0
  3. Nvidia release DLSS 4.0 with support for FG on older Nvidia cards!

You're probably right. I'm away from home right now but can't wait to try Cyberpunk 2077 with FSR 3 - will likely get a chance to get it all set this weekend. I have a 3080Ti, excited to see what I can get versus historical performance.

AMD supporting my (not terribly) old card is a big deal for me.

You can have Frame Generation with any GPU so long as you use a TV with a Frame Interpolation setting. If you have this feature on your TV it will interpolate a frame between every frame it receives from the GPU. So if you send 30fps to the TV at 29hz the TV will display 58fps on screen. You have to see it to believe it!😁
