Pmdg 738 trim settings

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was flying the 737-800 recently and I noticed that the triming was kinda broken. I was using the AI auto trim setting, but with that active, the plane randomly starts to go nose nose up, nose down constantly. It stops after some time eventually.
if I turn of the setting, it’s very hard to trim. I was on final at 2000 feet and the plane was descending, but the nose was up like in the climb phase.

do you know how I can trim it easily?

or how can I make the auto trim setting work better?

If you mean descending with 2.5° to 5° nose up attitude during final, that's typical. If you mean 15° nose up and descending, then either your airspeed is too slow for your flaps configuration and/or your aircraft's gross weight is too high.

Check that your aircraft weight is as expected for landing and that you are approaching at a speed that's appropriate for each flap configuration and above Vref on short final.

As for trimming, it's not replicated well in MSFS. What you need to do is apply a little bit of trim at a time and see where the aircraft sort of settles. I've never managed to have an aircraft hold pitch in any MSFS using manual trim.

Turn off the auto trim.

Keep at the manual trim, but you need to appreciate you *will* be trimming a lot. Make sure you're at a correct speed for your configuration though - it's shown on the speed tape.

If you *really* don't like constantly trimming or just fancy a flight without it, then fly an Airbus, problem solved.

The AI pilot is drunk. If you turn flying duties over to the AI pilot, it will not do a very good job. 😉
