December 17, 20232 yr Having done a few flights with the new mesh, initially I noticed little difference from the default mesh in the areas I was flying. The Mendips and Quantocks looked little different to me. However the first place I noticed a massive difference was flying in the Malvern Hills - probably because I've flown over them dozens of times in MSFS and in real life and know what they really look like. Snowdonia looks very nice as do the Lake District and Scottish Highlands though coastal areas are a little disappointing ( though I use Taburet's addon for these, so no big deal for me). There are one or two glitches here and there, but I guess that is only to be expected with mesh covering such a large area and the way it is made. Again not a big issue. Loading times seem a little higher but I was unable to detect any negative impact on performance at all. Has anyone else been using this new mesh and would like to point out a few areas they have flown over where they have noticed a big difference? December 17, 20232 yr Can't say I've noticed a specific big difference, buu I have just done a couple of test flights at about 5000 feet over the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, both of which look very good and both of which have felt a bit "woolly" in the past. Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

I removed this before installing the mesh as I thought there might be issues between the two, but you're happy they play nicely together ? 787 captain. Yeah, I've not found any issues yet and I removed it when installing ORBX and put it back when I was disappointed with the coasts). My understanding is that if you have 2 meshes loaded, MSFS will always use the higher one (someone correct me if I'm wrong) but if not, you can always raise or lower one or the other in the scenery library. December 17, 20232 yr Brilliant, thank you, I’ll put my Tarburet coast line back as well then cheers. 787 captain. Previously 24 years on 747-400.Technical advisor on PMDG 747 legacy versions QOTS 1 , FS9 and Aerowinx PS1.
December 17, 20232 yr What does this Taburet coastline actually do? Does it reduce morphing? Smooth out dodgy areas of mesh? Fix those areas where water is climbing the cliffs? Fix those areas where water is climbing the cliffs? Yeah all of those things to some degree Chris. It's not perfect, but far better than default from my experience. You need to find somewhere with coastal cliffs to check it out. North Cornwall is a good place along with the South coast between Brighton and Dover. December 17, 20232 yr “The function of this mod is to fix morphing effects visible along coastlines. Coastlines have been reshaped using high res data and adapted to avoid terrain morphing. The mod do not alter terrain mesh other than those along the coastlines. December 18, 20232 yr Only yesterday did I start recording some material to compare different scenarios for a YouTube video. I spent most of the afternoon recording material only to find after importing it all into the editing software, that 80% of the material had frozen! Not a happy bunny! If I get time I will record some more material today, but unlikely as I want to move onto another video. What comparisons I did do, was to be aware of a slight performance hit, but only minor, from about 60fps to 57fps in the Lake District, so about 5%. I also noticed that the improvement, although fairly modest, was there, but was more apparent in some places than others, which I guess is only to be expected. As for morphing, unless it was my imagination, and this was my original experience with the mesh, it did appear to portray less morphing, but as I say, I'd have to take a closer look. Overall, at the price, it's a no brainer IMO. Not much use for airline flying, but for those who like to fly GA, it will be more noticeable. December 18, 20232 yr I have only completed a handful of quick circuits so far in the UK to test my new PMDG 737-600, but I noticed quite a lot of that "water climbing up the cliffs" on the North Devon coast when I was swinging around for a final approach to runway 12 at EGFF Cardiff last night. Yeah, they could have done a better job there, but overall I find it better. I was expecting to be able to remove Taburet's mesh after installing ORBX mesh, but it seems better with both installed from what I can tell. The morphing fix do more than just 'adjust' morphing around coastlines. It includes editing of sea water along south west shores; northern shores; north east shores where water cliffs climbing is widespread. Default mesh do not really show water cliffs climbing but it morph; mesh addons might well introduce water climbing; the morph fix help in both situations as to block / mitigate this kind of problems. Having said that; it is a huge task to get into every single corner; not because of the lenght of coastlines; but for the fact that the sdk is not really designed to handle vertical polygons; with a distorted perspective of the area edited; to fix this kind of defects precision is required.
