Black Square avionics totally faulty

Featured Replies

Hi,

I just purchased tht Bonanza/Baron bundle from Justflight, and I must say, the first impression is quite disappointing. I hope this was no bad bargain.

Firstly, the avionics configuration is not saved. The aircraft starts with the GTN750/GNS430 every time. I shut down via "Main Menu" and "Quit to Desktop".

I want the GNS530/KX155 configuration, since normal GA aircraft don't have avionics representing the value of a luxury car. I don't have a GTN, and I don't want one for this aircraft. The aircraft never starts with this configuration. The WT GNS530/430 is up to date.

Secondly, after switching the configuration, the flight guidance is totally messed up:

  • No lateral guidance. The CDI is dead.
  • When pushing OBS, the planned track disappears from the GNS screens and does not come back.
  • The autopilot only has pitch/roll mode. No HDG (not to speak of NAV), no ALT/VS.

At rare occasions, the Bonanza starts with the GNS530/430 configuration, and then everything works just fine. It's pretty clear that this has to to with the intialization during startup. In the MSFS forum somebody mentioned that the state saving might have to do with the MS cloud. If that is so, this is simply ridiculous.

So, what is wrong with this aircraft? Why does it have hot swappable avionics anyway? This was not a good idea, as it obviously creates all sorts of errors.

Would it be possible to "hard code" the configuration on my PC?

Anyway, a Happy Christmas everyone.

Yes, you can hardcode the avionics selection, and it all works fine when initialized.. so there is hope! 🙂

Instructions to follow..

Hmm, you may be right on this... currently my A36 panel is broken and I cannot select/switch the GPS at all..  🤫

Was working fine..

This has been a problem with Blacksquare planes since SU14 unfortunately.

This is strange... on my Bonanza the CDI is fully functional.

(I cannot say anything about the second bug because I exclusive use the KNS80/81 and never the GPS.)

The autopilot is functioning normal, HDG is to follow the heading bug on the KCS55A. NAV also works - I have not found my way a few times when learning VOR navigation so I needed to cheat and activated the GTN750 .... when pressing NAV on the autopilot it immediately started to go back to the mangenta line. 🙂 The autopilot functions with the small panel and the turn knob needs to be pulled out to get to the VS selector.

But if these bugs occured because of SU14 - I haven´t flown them for a while, must be new bugs.

Just to clarify, the post in the JF forum linked to by Bert above includes a cut-and-paste fix for this problem, which was apparently the result of a small code change in the WT GNS that shipped with SU14.

Had a similar problem with the BSQ Caravan, turns out I had an old working title GNS Mod in my community folder that was conflicting with the BSQ Nav. Removed the old Mod...problem fixed, Nav system works fine.

The BS addd-on Nav issues we are experiencing can likely be remedied by adding https://pms50.com/fs2020/gtn750/workingtitle-instruments-gns_fixcompat.zip to your community folder.  It already contains the missing line of code mentioned and you don't have to cut and paste your files in the Official folder.  It's been published over a year ago is updated commensurate with the WT 430/530  versions.  It fixed my TBM and Comanche problem.

Pleased to see this thread.  I've always used all of the Black Square planes and love them.  But hadn't flown them for a few weeks, and tried to fly the Bonanza on Christmas Eve.   NAV mode on the AP would not engage and even HDG mode was not tracking the bug.    I thought it was at my end.  Will wait until a fix arrives.

[EDIT: Made the copy and paste fix and all is well again].
