New Installation Tool (Simstaller)

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Oh that looks very neat! Especially the part related to automatic installation and and conflicts. Though I am wondering, do you need to unzip any addone that you download from flightsim.to or Simstaller does it for you? 🤔

Edit: Answering myself, looking here https://parallel42.com/products/simstaller, looks that what it does exactly. That would be defiantly a MUST HAVE utility as I hate unzipping and copying!!

You can also download 20 liveries and have it install them automatically as they finish downloading or manually install them all at once.

Just for dummy me, is this something like addon linker? And will it be able to tell me which payware airports i have installed across marketplace and other 3rd parties?

You give it a location to install, it installs there. That's all there is to the installation side really. You can have bookmarks to easily switch between them.

There is no airport scanning or library management like Add-on linker.

What it does have is a VFS scanner to find conflicts.

Now this looks interesting... and very useful by the look of it.

A combination of using this with addon linker should make things supremely easier to manage.

Thanks to //42 for giving us this for free!

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

I can see a problem with using this with AddonLinker already. You can direct the app to use your custom community folder. No problem there. But if you have a file tree in your custom linker community folder like I do, I don't see anyway that you can instruct this app to, for example, put aircraft in the aircraft folder and scenery in the scenery folder etc. Well see!

When I manually install, then I know what's doing what and where.
