January 21, 20242 yr Seems to have been neglected as far as world updates go and I doubt I'm alone in considering it a continent crying out for exploration in the Sim. Anyone have recommendations for scenery addons both free and payware worth getting? (especially covering small airstrips and such)
January 22, 20242 yr You're right about SA needing a world update. Angel Falls would be a great mod...I'll have to look for one. Other than (orbx?) South America mesh, I don't know of any "large area" sceneries down there, but, as far as airports go, anything by Paulo Ricardo should be purchased. The aforementioned SA mesh is ok, but I'm not sure if its enough of a difference. I use it and enjoy it. There are also probably some Taburet large-area scenery mods available for SA but I don't have any of them. Paulo Ricardo makes Brazilian airports and like I said -- should be insta-buy if you fly down there at all. SKPS (Pasto, Colombia) is an airport worth flying to. I have the SierraSim scenery for it and it's quite an approach. The scenery is ok but the setting is spectacular. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

Runway 11/29 is 2694 metres long, so plenty of room for just about anything Edited January 22, 20242 yr by Christopher Low Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester

His Santos Dmont (SBRJ) is excellent and there are a few decent freeware addons at flightsim.com Edited January 22, 20242 yr by cianpars Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)
January 22, 20242 yr SEQM Quito(Asobo handcrafted airport) is also worth visiting. Two years ago I did a tour in GA aicraft from the southern tip of South America to Mexico, along the westcoast. I used a mix of commercial and freeware addons, and some default airports as well. It was very satifying. I flew that trip in several aircraft, amongst others the JP C152, Carenado C170, the Justflight Piper Arrows and the Milviz C310. That trip made me appreciate how long that west coast actually us. I must have done over 100 takeoffs and almost as many landings on that trip. January 22, 20242 yr Author Thanks, I'll check these suggestions out I'm more a backcountry flyer and tend to avoid large slabs of Tarmac/concrete, but if they have interesting approaches or wow surroundings then I enjoy even the big airports

But it is also fun to plan your own route. Although South America could use a few WU's the current default is already very nice to fly. The Patagonia region I found quite gloomy (but beautiful). Once past that the scenery became happier. January 22, 20242 yr I do a lot of MSFS flying in Argentina. Simulacion Extrema has published many of the airports along the eastern side of the Andes along the whole length of Argentina. Wonderful scenery and, depending on the time of year, interesting weather. Edited January 22, 20242 yr by hs118 My MSFS 2020 repaints: Flightsim.to - Profile of HStreet Working on MSFS 2024 versions.

Also, MSFS comes with an enhanced Chagual Airport in Peru. It's a small airport but a tough approach. Ive just started to put one together but yours would be great help/inspiration Here is the flightplan, as far as I could retrieve from my logs: SCGZ-SCDW-SCCI-SCNT-SAWC-SCOH-SCRB-SCRF-SCBA-SCCY-SCAS-SCIH-SCMK-SCPQ-SCGO-SCIE-SCRG-SCRD-SCSE-SCAT-SCFA-SCDA-SCAR-SLLP-SPZO-SPSO-SPJC-SPRU-SPGL-SPQT-SWJV-SPBC-SPQT-SECU-SEGU-SEQM-SKPS-SJMZ-SKBO-SKBG-SKGY-SKMD-SKJU-SKJA-SKUQ-MPMU-MPPS-MRSN I mainly planned the route between available freeware or payware airports, or places that looked interesting from the map. Some of these airports are a bit larger than you'd prefer I guess, although a few times the runway length is more indicative of the airport altitude then of its size. I mainly followd the coast as much as possible but one or two times I deviated from that in order to see what was on the other side of the Andes. Aircraft used: Cessna 152, Cessna 170b, Piper Warrior, Piper Arrow, Pilatus Turbo Porter, Cessna 310, Sting S4, Cessna caravan.
