January 27, 20242 yr Hello All: Ever since SU14 I have been getting stutters on approach and they almost seem to be getting worse. I have tried Easyjets fix as well as running DynamicLOD but neither seems to help. Anything else I can try? Thanks, Dave
January 27, 20242 yr I purchased MSFS late last year, and I was impressed with the performance on my very modest i5 7600k/32GB DDR4-3600 RAM/6GB Nvidia GTX 980Ti powered PC. However, something happened shortly after that (I think it was a software update), and suddenly I was noticing a lot more stutters when on final approach (and also in mountainous terrain areas). I followed the instructions in this video, and my performance has improved considerably. I only see minor stutters on final approach now (even to large airports in dense scenery areas like London), and flying around mountains seems to be perfectly fine. In fact, I even increased my Terrain LOD and DSR settings because of the improvement. Now, I know that people say that videos like this are nothing more than snake oil, and that's a fair comment. All I am saying is that I noticed a significant difference, and that performance improvement has been maintained over the past ten days (and I have used MSFS every day since then). January 27, 20242 yr Author Thank you Christopher, but that is what I was referring to above when I said I did try "Easyjets fix". Did nothing for me

January 27, 20242 yr I would recommend giving the Dynamic LOD mod a try, here's the thread on it along with a YT video:
January 27, 20242 yr The OP notes that he has tried Dynamic LOD already. Just for the sake of completeness, perhaps the OP could let us know something about his system specs, as well as whether the stutters appear uniformly at all airports (default or add-on) and with all aircraft, etc. Observing stutters on approach is a common phenomenon that most all of us have had at one time or another, so it's a matter of eliminating all of the alternatives until one can determine what might fix the problem on a particular system. Somewhat oddly, in my case the thing that seems to have had the most significant impact on approach stutters is the use of the most recent DLSS Swapper. It didn't significantly impact my fps as claimed, but it did seem to reduce the stutters. Am I sure that this will work in all cases? No, I'm not even positive it worked for me, but it's easy enough to try at zero cost and with no need for tweaking. January 27, 20242 yr Generally, stutters can be avoided by turning down TLOD and if using TAA, turning down Render Scale. Turning down OLOD can hep too as well as reducing road traffic and settings in general. It's always been a trade off between better graphics or better performance. For me, I keep my settings a bit higher than I probably should and accept a few stutters as a consequence but others prefer the rxtra fluidity you get by turning things down a notch or two. Dynamic LOD tool cam help but again, you get a slight stutter when passing through different TLOD and OLOD levels. January 29, 20242 yr I suppose I have some relief in that it is not just me. I only fly the FBW 320. My community folder hold three airports and five liveries. I use MSFS as it came 'out of the box', no modifications or add-ons. Most my settings are on ultra, and I use DX11 with TAA. Up to now I had smooth flights. Now, on final approach to all airports I get stutters, including after landing. Departure from these same airports is fine, which I definitely do not understand. Basically my system is: I9 processor, RTX3070, 32mb memory. I was thinking of rebuilding my computer (I still use HDD) but am holding off at present.
January 29, 20242 yr Don't buy anything yet. It's quite difficult to explain, but, in short, most of the advice you get on the internet about stutters in MSFS is based on faulty logic. This video is one of the only ones that has reflected a decent deductive approach to figuring out exactly what causes stutters. I have concluded that stutters are inevitable in MSFS, and the only thing you can do is reduce their intensity and change the point where they happen. Consequently, I have set up my graphics settings so that the stutters will occur several miles from the runway threshold instead of at the runway threshold. For my system this equates to object and terrain LOD of 115 each. I have also dialed in other settings in ways that I only was able to understand after examining what Starbugs has already researched on this and his other English language videos. So, if you have the patience, you can do this research and find out for yourself what will work for your system, but be aware, things like "level of detail" do not mean what they sound like they mean.
