MSFS Auto FPS App

For anyone having unsolvable AutoFPS installation issues, download the app files here and manually extract and copy to your AutoFPS directory %appdata%\MSFS2020_AutoFPS\bin.

Not sure I have all the necessary files...the app is running and showing MSFS in green but Simconnect and Session in red?

MSFS2024 will have AutoFPS-like functionality built into it. My intention is to only update this app for MSFS2024 if their implementation is badly broken and they don't do anything to fix it.

Thank you for the reply. I did'nt know the new sim had that already.

Did you try this from the readme?

  • If after installing and running the app your simconnect always stays red, try downloading and installing a Microsoft official version of “Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 - 2022 Redistributable”, which may be missing from your Windows installation.

You can get it here.

When you say app files, are you referring to AutoFPS or Mobiflight module? In any case, make sure you did both.

Yes I did both, and the C++ redistributable, still no simconnect or session showing green 😞

You initially said you were updating the app, implying that you have used the app and it has worked properly before? If so, what happens if you reinstall the last version that worked?

You may also want to try a newer build than 0.4.3.0. A release candidate for a new version 0.4.3.1 is about to be posted up shortly, so you may want to try that.

Yes has worked ok before.  I tried the last downloaded installer and got the exact same error with that.

The module should be placed in community folder exactly as in the zip?

Must be something my end but I have zero ideas about what now!

Yes, the Mobiflight files and folders go directly into the community folder.

As you say, given that it did work before and now it doesn't when going back to what you had before and you've tried manually installing everything, something must have changed on your system to be blocking all this. I can't really help you with that other than to suggest thinking back to when it stopped working and what else changed on your system around then.

Nothing springs to mind.  The first instance of any issue was uninstalling and reinstalling AutoFPS....

Is there a character limit for the extraction path for the mobi-flight module?

The issue is clearly that my AutoFPS is not picking up simconnect for some reason, likely that the mobi-flight module isn't being recognised for some reason?  What needs to be in place for this to be connected please?

My community folder is: F:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-902830394-464175199-2669763215-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community

There is a folder in there called: mobiflight-event-module

That has Contentinfo and modules folders and two .json files

Modules folder has MobiFlightWasmModule.wasm

Does that seem right?

Yes that does seem right. Maybe try moving that folder out of your Community folder temporarily, run the AutoFPS installer for the last version that worked and it should install the older version of Mobiflight into your community folder, then see if AutoFPS now works again. You can always delete the Mobiflight module installed by AutoFPS and copy back your original Mobiflight module to get back where you started.

Checked install locations and files with Cpt_Piett, they are the same for us both.

I already had the latest redistributable installed, but we had some differences in older ones.  I've installed the same ones Cpt_Piett has, so our systems should be identical in that sense.

Is there any way I can check if MSFS is picking up the mobiflight module at all in any way, something seems to be interfering with it

@Reset XPDR tried new test4 version, same error being thrown in ALL installer versions

Kevin Firth - AMD 9800X3D; Asus Prime X670E; 64Gb Cas30 6000 DDR5; RTX5090; AutoFPS

Yeah, it's really strange as you could successfully install AutoFPS before, but with 0.4.3.0 and beyond you get that error message. As you mentioned @kevinfirth we did compare everything - mobiflight folder in community, AutoFPS folder in AppData\Roaming. We even compared Visual C++ Redistributables.

The only thing I can think of is antivirus software blocking the installation. I always temporarily disable it before updating AutoFPS.

This is where I have to declare that, despite the fact that AutoFPS use Mobiflight module to interact with MSFS, I actually don't know much about how that interface works because it was inherited functionality when I forked AutoFPS from the original DynamicLOD program. Up until now it has simply just worked for pretty much everyone, so I've never had to venture into that dark area of code. Nonetheless, I would like to get to the bottom of it and help you so I will look more into it. It is late where I am so it will be sometime tomorrow before I can take a look.

If you could post your log file showing the failed start up, that might be helpful.
