Night performance in general

Featured Replies

Falcon, at this point I have to ask, are you trolling? I've stated several times it has nothing to do with the app and in my previous post I mentioned it happened without the app.

I appreciate you trying to help but it's like you're not reading any posts! lol

Exactly , it has nothing to do with any app which i didnt even use before this forum. Its simply a new phenomen in performance instability .

I havent tried outside europe/UK yet so will get back here with findings.

Settings is the same as i have being used for 1 year at least. VSYNC is really normally a smooth ride here so i tend to still go down that line.

And it has nothing to do with switching views but a good point if it can overload the system

Exactly, I've no idea why Falcon is talking about the AutoFPS app in here. Maybe he thinks we're in that thread? It's been a long week 😆

There was a bug previously that impacted performance the longer you flew. This sounds a little like that.

There was also a performance bug with more than 4 WU  regions installed once.

45minutes into the flight is not that long i would say but it could be something.

I'm not sure about that, Rob. On a flight from Dusseldorf to Heathrow at around 15 minutes into the flight?

OK.  No, I'm not trolling.  But Michael, your original post did contain two different questions.  You said that yourself again only a few posts above:  "Anyway this was about night performance in general and settings effecting that the most."  You also said you were seeking solutions for a "Low end PC".

Many different people have tested AutoFPS to achieve FS performance improvements using many different computer configurations.  Some are using a regular monitor, some are using VR headsets, and all the different configurations of these things effect the results.  I offered a possible solution for you, because although I first tested it on my more "state of the art" computer, out of curiosity I also tested it on my old 1080Ti GPU computer too.  It works fine in achieving what you are trying to do.  When configured properly it will stop trying to render graphics that you really don't need during night flying scenarios and will increase the graphics that would enhance your night flying experience.

So I'll quit posting to this thread from now on.  Have a good day and enjoy your simming.

Michael, I've been having strange altitude performance recently too. Performance at EGLL for example is good and then up at FL330 it is bad, which makes no sense to me.

I'll be trying the AutoFPS app later myself and I'll report any differences if I notice any. I know other users have reported issues at altitude over northern Europe too.

Try turning off Photogrammetry if you have it on.  I posted about flying over central Europe and having this kind of nasty frame rate hit and pauses and this is completely unrelated to main thread, GPU or VRAM load.  It appears to be server-side and PG has helped quite a bit for me on this.

I haven't used it for months, Noel, after an immersion killing approach into melted Seattle.

No worries ,always nice with some respons with solutions advisory. I was just putting my thread and head back on my main track.

Thanks again

Ps . Did 3 different approaches in KIAH , CYVR and KLAS from FL300 using FSIPanel with no issues.

Yep, I did a flight from Cairo to Istanbul and it was smooth sailing the whole way.

I think the common denominator is the northern section of Europe which again points to some kind of server issue for the terrain perhaps.

It was a potentially nice idea but proved too demanding to work well for many or most.  The default auto gen is decent.
