Aw, thank you.

Lots of those are getting rather crusty now so need major dusting. I seem to keep going on holiday instead but maybe I'll be imprisoned with a computer at some point. Predannack will emerge at some point soonish as that's one of the silliest stock airfields.

As for these islands, I've figured out some gorse that doesn't look totally terrible which was my main impediment.

More and more ludicrous buildings keep popping up so whether to do those is the next thing to ponder. It may need to be done.

Really looking forward this.

I think back to previous iterations of Flight Simulator (e.g. FS98, FS2004, FSX) and more "remote" areas like the the Shetlands or the Falklands were rather ignored and lacking in any sort of detail.

You're providing such an incredible upgrade for those of us who've been waiting many years to explore these places.

An old friend of mine lives in Mullion and a couple of times a year we indulge in a pleasant evening’s trespassing over Predannack to see how the wreckage is mouldering away.

Microsoft’s representation is….amusing 😀

Looks like they've removed most of the old aircraft now, but it'll be pretty boring without them so they're staying.

The main industries there seem to be 'urban exploration' and the occasional dog walk.

Maybe the drones will hot things up.

Alright.

Here's some progress.

It has turned into more of a, er journey, than intended. Entire settlements have had to be razed to the ground as I couldn't take the autogen.

I'm still pondering 3d markers like cones. I can't see any in real life anywhere beyond barrels at the end of the runways, but something is required.

Not sure when it's done still but it can't be more than a week or two. Or three. Or Five.

PLEASE can we get these (Falklands and Orkney Shetland) on marketplace particularly for Xbox as they can’t get flightsim.to?

it opens your work upto a huge audience and many devs have done this now with a minimum charge,  if that’s the issue.

Job finally jobbed - https://flightsim.to/file/80160/falkland-islands-airstrips

You get every airstrip done. Trees removed.

More Land Rovers than I know what do with.

You get five new helipads and one reactivated airport on Golding Island.

You get ground vehicles, boats wandering around, lovely people waiting to meet you and the occasional animal.

Still a fair bit more to do to fully flesh things out but this is now a more alive place in general.

Thanks Superspud.  I will be downloading and checking this out later today.  Not sure how good the ortho for the area is as that could make ir break it.  Maybe better using the latest Bing maps as I don't think it was so great last time I looked (quite a long time ago now).

I hope you have included plenty of Union flags (not allowed to say Union Jack any more, are we?) 😀

The ground imagery is very good. There are a few strange patches where it's given up, but it's certainly one of the better areas out there.

Afraid I forgot the flags and only remembered after uploading. That's for the next round.

Not sure how many will be flapping in these areas anyway. I expect most will have been long shredded by the weather.

Just starting to explore the islands.  Port Stanley to Mount Pleasant to Goose Green (these are 3 areas I remember well from the invasion).  Don't bother using the latest Bing Maps as whilst the images are pretty good, they are covered with clouds baked into them as they have not gone through the removal process.  The built in images are better.

More exploring to do, but there are so many airfields to visit, I'm not quite sure where to go next.   Maybe you have some recommendations as to which you think are the best to get started with, Superspud.

Enjoying the experience so far.

My fave is probably Port Howard in West Falkland.

My interesting fact of the day is that there are no road laws in West Falkland which is why you can't take a hire car there.

Many of the islands are weirdly featureless compared to a lot of the mainland ish ones, but West Point island is quite a fruity one.

Port San Carlos and SFTH Stanley, which is definitely not called Stanley in reality, no idea why there are four of them in total in the sim, are good ones too and the Fox Bays have plenty of features compared to most.

I'm finding the Blackbox Islander to be very lethargic compared to the real one which verily leaps into the air, but hopefully you can grind into the air if you have it.

Thank you for creating such a lovely and arguably "forgotten" environment for us!
