May 3, 20242 yr So since I started using MSFS on a different partition than P3D I never bothered with Process Lasso which I used heavily to choose core affinity and process priority. I've basically just set it and forget it on my MSFS partition. Well now that I've got MSFS, AIG, ASFS and a couple less CPU/memory intensive apps all running on the same machine (used to run AS networked) I definitely feel like I am seeing the performance hit. This morning I installed Process Lasso and my questions are: Is anyone else using it with MSFS? What Priority do you assign MSFS? What Cores do you use for MSFS vs supporting apps? I am on a 12700K and am thinking of putting MSFS at High Priority on Cores 0-7 and putting everything else on the rest of the Cores plus the E-Cores. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance! -Paul Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

May 3, 20242 yr Author I used ProcessLasso heavily in P3D because Affinity masks just got so complex and there were so many apps that I used in conjunction with P3D that I always liked to lock the cores to separate them from competing. With MSFS at first it was the only thing running so it wasn't necessary but now that the number of additional apps is growing it's becoming more important to MSFS now as well. Also, getting MSFS off Core0 and exclusively onto the P-Cores seems to have really smoothed things back to when it was just a vanilla MSFS which is great. As always you mileage may vary but it's 5 minutes to set it up and easy enough to revert back if you don't see a benefit. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

May 3, 20242 yr I did most all of these things in PL last year and concluded while theoretically it seemed useful in the end nothing substantial improved in terms of MSFS performance. My sense is PL's main value is to satisfy the needs of the inveterate tinkerer--oh you'll think you're doing something meaningful because it all makes good theoretical sense, whereas real outcomes in terms of how MSFS performs won't change meaningfully, that was my experience. I'll standby, and continue breathing, to see if anyone in this thread becomes one of those people "who have enormous differences in performance...." using PL. Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. Aircraft used in MSFS 2024: Fenix A320, Aerosoft CRJ, FBW, WT 787X, I-Fly 737 MAX 8, Citation Longitude.

Considering the amount of people who found value in it in P3D I will discount your experience as using it once also implies not taking the time to truly learn it or understand it's capabilities. If you never touched it since you can't answer any of my relevant questions just wanted to say how you didn't like it so thank you for that... I also never saw a use for it in MSFS until recently but now I have ASFS, AIG, Spad.next, eyebeam, the Brunner app, avlasoft EFB Server, Navigraph, Simaviator running for my buttkicker and OI4FS for my Opencockpit modules. Having all of those running on the same cores as MSFS was beginning to cause a noticeable performance impact in terms of fluidity and stutters on my system 5 minutes of isolating those to my E-Cores, taking MSFS off Core 0 and setting MSFS to High Priority is far from being an "inveterate tinkerer" and as I said your mileage will vary most likely by the number of ancillary apps you have competing for the same cores as windows and MSFS. Again, can't answer any of the relevant question but can dismiss anyone using it as merely satisfying the needs of being a tinkerer and just thinking they're doing something good... Thank you for your assistance with my questions as well. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
May 4, 20242 yr Yes been using it all the time with msfs a must need app. Edited May 4, 20242 yr by MikeH99
May 4, 20242 yr Inveterate tinkerer… I guess I belong to that group 😆 Been using Lasso for years, way before MSFS. I’ve set MSFS to high priority and assigned most apps that I use along with the sim to the E-Cores. Not a very complicated setup. EDIT: After watching Island's video, I'll make some changes, including not having MSFS run in any CPU priority mode. Edited May 4, 20242 yr by Cpt_Piett 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
May 4, 20242 yr Imho : everything that helps getting a smoother Fs experience will be very welcome…. This weekend I will install it and try it.
