June 8, 20241 yr Is there any way to keep FG on when the MSFS window doesn't have the focus? I'm guessing this isn't possible within MSFS, but maybe there's a utility or something that can make this possible?
June 8, 20241 yr I know of no way either to make that happen. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
June 8, 20241 yr I wish there was, because if so it might allow those of us running triple monitor setups to have FG on all monitors, not just one. Alas, thats not the case. I hope that this is something they looked at for 2024 but i wouldn't have thought its high on their priority list. The flickering I see when moving/panning typically out a side window to the tarmac below is a show stopper absolutely, and combined w/ the often substantial judder that happens when you re-focus to the MSFS screen make FG an absolute show stopper here. Fortunately native rendering eliminates all of these issues and since adding 7800X3D I can maintain a minimum native rate of 40 anywhere, but typically 45 in most airports, so FG isn't critical. I remained stunned others are enamored w/ FG. I wonder the same thing about how some people can be more than content with default airports while I don't think I'd ever want to use one. Though one of these days I'll probably get back to testing out non FG scenarios in the never ending search for optimum settings/performance. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

I think for me my comparator is coming from P3D 4.x and how much better (looking at least!) default airports are, especially enhanced ones done by Asobo. Plus, since I really have no idea what the RW airport looks like except for the very few I'm familiar with it's less critical for me. That being said I now have maybe 14 pay ware or free ware airports. The near instant click to lock back on FG doesn't bother me hardly at all. What bothers the heck out of me is when I'm on one of the other monitors and forget to click them first and use the mouse wheel and it causes my sim cockpit to zoom in or out. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next
June 9, 20241 yr Author Haha, for me it's exactly the opposite. I actually almost never have MSFS in focus, because I use another program to drive MSFS. (Hence I almost never have FG.) When I click MSFS for some reason and forget that it's on, then I use the mouse wheel somewhere else and see the zoom. I have to compulsively click outside of MSFS to make sure the mouse wheel is just going to scroll normally. Edited June 9, 20241 yr by prolixindec

I unassigned the mouse wheel zoom. So that never happens to me. Also, when I use the wheel to turn a knob on the panel, it never starts zooming by mistake. I left the mouse wheel zoom on outside view (there are no knobs to turn out there). 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. June 9, 20241 yr This is great news, as it's just saved me about £4000 on buying two more 48" monitors and an RTX4090!
