I despise subscriptions. The only subscription I have at the moment is navigraph because it provides so much value. There are a lot of application these days that should be a one purchase that. At this rate, flight simming will cost $500/year before you purchase a single addon. Niche?

I purchase a timer app a few years back. It is a very basic app that does interval timing when I'm working out. I went to purchase the app last week for someone, and it is a subscription service now. Why on earth is an app that is basically a stopwatch forcing you into a subscription. If there are no overhead cost of running a backend service, then there is no reason not to offer the option of a one-time purchase besides greed. I don't care if it is big company like adobe or a small developer.

Reminds of a keto app I downloaded. I just wanted a few dessert recipes. Most apps these days want you to create an account, probably so they can track and trace and sell your data. Monthly expenses keep creeping up, we are getting nickled and dimed to death in taxes and inflation here in the states. 

Intermittent fasting is awesome. I need to push myself to do 3 day fast, that's when autophagy peaks.

am eliminating subscriptions of all kinds, I have started with navigraph which honestly for me is not worth the expense, I will occasionally update the data from time to time with navigraph or aerosoft when I have the need.

What are you using as a substitute?

That's pretty much what I recently decided to do too... Unfortunately one of my best purchases for P3D and MSFS - FSHUD - is strongly tied to Navigraph in that if we start it without an active Navigraph subscription it'll revert it's database to early 2022 😕

That's why I purchased for the month, then told my wife after the fact! As for my flight deck, I saved for 15 years for my baby, started saving before I met my wife or I wouldn't have that either.  😄

My wife enjoyed the view for a couple of days, then the excitement wore off. She hasn't been it the deck since. 

My wife gets sick in VR goggles, happened once. Only once.

She won't even watch a video of rock crawling or mudding, or pretty much any motor sport video due to the camera shake. She calls it vertigo but I don't think that's the right term. I just think she's dizzy.

Go to aerosoft, navdatapro. Purchase one update. Used to be able to purchase 4 updates per year, but I had to point out a bug, so now you get one at a time. That's fine, no subscription.

My subscription runs out next month and I'm not going to renew. For charts I have been using chartfox for a long time. 

For data only subscriptions both navigraph and aerosoft are much cheaper, although I will probably try to see if I can subscribe only for one month in a very punctual way when I see that in my usual routes there are important changes.

Aerosoft is not subscription based, you simply purchase one download
