June 24, 20241 yr I am getting tired of so many online news stories which begin by meandering around, trying to personalize the issue under discussion. Example. The headline link: Massive Range Rover Recall ! And when you click on it, the text begins: Matilda Fafoofnick and her partner Wilberforce were out... driving last week along the familiar but long winding motorway to Liverpool. It was a dark and stormy night but they were quite comfortable as the miles crawled by... And it's a full page later before we learn what is going wrong with Range Rovers and which models have been recalled. (this is just a made up example, not a real story) 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
June 25, 20241 yr Agreed 100%. No matter the title, you know you can jump over two or three useless paragraphs until you actually find one or two lines related to the title... This, plus all the advertising in the middle that makes you feel like you reached the end of the article already... ah no, scroll more, there's another paragraphs down there somewhere... (Only on the phone of course. On PC I use an adblocker).
June 25, 20241 yr There is so much absolute word not allowed on the Internet that it boggles the mind. There are many so-called journalists nowadays who just sit in their living rooms and churn out inane and/or dishonest "news" articles from their laptop just to make a buck. These are also know as "presstitutes", a fitting term. What is concerning is that many folks who are naive, uninformed, or have no critical thinking skills read this drivel and believe it. Like many things, the Internet is both a curse and a blessing. June 25, 20241 yr Administrators In simple terms it's called click-bait! Like Dave just said, these wingnuts churn out these articles to attract attention and get the clicks to make money. Saw one yesterday..."Michael Jackson is alive!" Yeah, right!🙄 Charlie AronAVSIM Board of Directors-ADMIN/Moderator-RegistrarJust going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. June 25, 20241 yr Funnily enough, it happened to me this morning. Started reading the article and it was quite clear that I was going to be strung along for paragraph after paragraph. My response was "sod off" and I made a cup of tea instead. Earlier, I wanted to see which channel the England Euro match was on. Yep, you guessed it, the answer was right at the end of the article after a pile of useless, smelly, pointless drivel.
