You are right Ed.  Last I heard, the developer was looking at doing the highly requested freight version, so if it arrives, there might be another batch of bug fixes released along with it, I hope!

  • Glad you got it sorted.  I can’t remember if I’d ever seen that setting and I don’t have my computer with me at work here, so I wasn’t able to look.     Enjoy flying it!  If you’ve got any othe

Not normal. It should be kept at the value shown in the EFB. Since there are several pages that should be opened in the EFB (payload pages), try different ways until you'll get your value properly tra

I HAVE FOUND THE PROBLEM - refer to my last reply at the bottom of this thread.

I remembered that I had reassigned certain keyboard entries using the numpad and overwrote the existing assignments and wondered if any of the ones over written were originally for trim change. I select the default keyboard and checked if any were assigned to the keyboard and there were  numpad 1  and numpad 2    so I left the keyboard set at default and tried again. I pressed numpad 1 and the trim displayed increase but as soon as I stopped once again it reduced slowly to 0.

I can't fly this aircraft without being able to preset the trim!

Unless the autopilot is on for some reason in that setup, there’s nothing that would force the trim to zero.

Set it cold and dark, and then put external power on the plane.  Go battery on, ground power on.  You should be able to move the trim at that point and see what it does.

I HAVE FOUND THE PROBLEM - refer to my last reply at the bottom of this thread.

Thanks.  I did that.  Using the default keyboard assignments, l started cold and dark selected ground power on the EFB, noted that the battery was already ON and guarded, slowly the display panels came on, set the trim up quite a bit and as before the trim slowly reduced to zero.

I cannot believe that there isn't something wrong with the download of the ATR I did.

Maybe everyone else has an earlier version which doesn't have the bug or are installed market place purchased aircraft get automatically updated? Remember I have installed the same aircraft on my old and slow PC which as different hardware and the same problem exists.

If it was a third party I purchased from (like my twin otter from Aerosoft which although is nowhere as 'smart' as the ATR has NO problems) then I would have some recourse and be able to contact someone to report and ask advice and/or my money back.

Is anyone reading this 'game' to uninstall their copy of the ATR and using market place, install again and see what happens?

I HAVE FOUND THE PROBLEM - refer to my last reply at the bottom of this thread.

I have a BIG problem.

I have tried using trim on the A320 and King Air and the same thing happens. After I change it using numpad 7 it slowly returns to zero.

HELP please

I have recently re installed MSFS on this PC and installed it for the first time on my old PC and have the same problem.

If it has something to do with a setting I made how can I ensure that all my settings are set at the default as per a first time ever installation so that settings from the cloud don't work.

I 'googled' this and apart from one broken link came up with the following

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/how-to-reset-the-controls/458525

which states -

Is there a way to make a full reset of the controls.
So that MSFS thinks they are new?

and the reply -

If you want to reset, just open the current profile that you want to delete. And in the bottom menu, click on Preset Manager. There you can click on the trash can icon to delete the current profile. Keep selecting other profiles that you have, and keep deleting them the same way.

Not sure if this will do it. Please advise.   Also where do I find the 'current profile' mentioned?

Quick question.

When you start MSFS.

Options.

Controls.

Are all devices set to Default?

If you mean all controls  such as keyboard, mouse and joystick   then YES all set to default.

Maybe the problem is somewhere else and I would like to start with a fresh install of MSFS where there is nothing downloaded from the 'cloud' which may be stuffing up things.

As a fresh never before install on my old PC has the same problem I can only assume that it does because when it is run it reads stuff written before from the 'cloud'. Why else would a fresh install on another PC logged in with the same 'username' as IO always use end up with the same problem?

Please note that I believe the problem started when I was forced to uninstall and reinstall MSFS as I had received a message from AVG (my virus checker') that MSFS was infected and after that MSFS would not even start so I was forced to uninstall and reinstall.

How do I set things up so that I get a completely new fresh install of MSFS as if it was the very first time I installed it.

Who knows if there is something else in the 'cloud' other than input devices defaults which is causing the problem?

Ok, all = Default is just like = fresh install on two of your PC's.

Just to verify any Hardware controllers (yoke/throttle etc) in your setup that may have loaded their own install software/setup?

Note:

I use FSUIPC and Saitek Yoke with Trim Up/Down on the Yoke with a custom setup in MSFS (not Default) and all ok with ATR ($14US MS store May 2023) in MSFS v 1.37.19.

I don't know.  I use a Logitech 3D Pro  combined joystick/throttle

In any case the problem still occurs if I unplug the joystick.

Actually my question would include All Controllers including your Logitech 3D Pro  combined joystick/throttle.

Sounds like you have a Custom setup not a default MSFS2020 install.

May be getting a little closer to your problem with Default MSFS aircraft and the purchased ATR.

I HAVE FOUND THE PROBLEM - refer to my last reply at the bottom of this thread.

Oh I do hope so as at present the trim I set in payware and default aircraft returns to zero after I set it.

Please note that I wonder if AVG reported a virus as seconds before it did I copied something into the Community Folder while MSFS was running. I don't know if that is a no no or in fact it had anything to do with it. All I know is that after the virus alarm (for MSFS) MSFS would not run anymore (starting it did nothing, nothing displayed etc) and so I uninstalled and reinstalled and ever since I have had the trim problem.

Yes the problem exists on any aircraft I select  ie the ATR (payware), A320, KIngair, Bonanza (all Asobo default aircraft)

How could I have a custom setup? I own the store edition and installed it using the Xbox app and choose to install on my D:drive not the default C:drive.

STOP LOOKING EVERYONE

I found a youtube video on loss of elevator trim - how (I didn't find it before beats me).

The problem is that the assistant settings for   AI Auto-Trim  was ON

I have absolutely no idea how that became on unless I chose an an assistant setting which covers all of the settings for pilot which caused that one to be set ON.

So damned annoying.

Thanks Vaughn   I think that your last reply was sent about the time as my last reply as it is now solved.

What I (and everyone else) should do in the future if aircraft start to not do what is expected especially with control surfaces is to check if any assistance settings are ON and consider if they should be OFF.

I should have been more proactive instead of reactive as a similar thing happened to me a couple of years ago with water rudders on a floatplane - it was an assistant setting.

Maybe if all else fails set all assistant settings OFF and then turn ON only those you really need one by one and check the result.
