July 18, 20241 yr I've been out of simming for better than 4 years now, and this is my first post here in over 3 1/2 so be gentle please. When I stopped flying, I was running a stable and well set up Prepar3d v4 sim. That setup included RealityXP 430/530 and 650/750 GPS's which served me well and always, always featured the ability to click and get a large popup of the unit. For my return to the hobby, I decided to start with a clean slate and MSFS. After a bit of research, I decided on the TDS GTNxi units. Navigraph support! Yes! For my first payware plane, I went with Just Flight's Turbo Arrow IV as it supports the TDS units and it was the plane I owned and flew IRL. Unfortunately, the idea of clickable popups seems to have gone the way of the dodo, at least in the T-Arrow. Or perhaps I'm missing something. I suppose I'll set something up with a camera view as a workaround, but I am surprised and a bit disappointed that this common feature has disappeared. Thoughts? Comments? (And if your comment is, "you fool, of course you can still do this" please be gentle.) Starting the learning curve on a new sim all over again is definitely the "no fun" part. Scott

Scott You can use a standalone version: for this you can remove TDS gauge from your community folder. Then when you start the TDS application outside MSFS, you can drag it to your tablet using spacedesk or just to another screen etc.
July 18, 20241 yr I use a close up camera view if I need to see things up close. I don't believe the TDS has popup window. Check on his Discord (if you dare) to see if it's being considered. https://discord.gg/CFmmfJvP -J 13700KF | RTX 4090 @ 1440 | 64GB DDR5 | 2 x 1TB SSDs | 1TB M.2 NVMe
July 18, 20241 yr Author I've gone ahead and set up a custom view focused on the GPS's. I think that's the best I can do for now. I've also gone ahead and done something that I've resisted doing for years. I've ordered a TrackIR. 1 hour ago, Twenty6 said: Check on his Discord (if you dare) to see if it's being considered. If I dare? That sounds ominous! Thanks for the comments guys. Scott

There are just too many compromises without some solution like TrackIR. I'll just have to learn to work with it. Good man on the hats! Scott

Check on his Discord (if you dare) to see if it's being considered. https://discord.gg/CFmmfJvP Hello, thank you for your question on the TDS GTNXi Pro. Yes, the TDS GTNXi Pro has pop-up windows, in fact, the power of the TDS GTNXi Pro is that it works in two modes: VC integrated mode: as any MSFS LCD gauge, meaning you can always pop it via right ALT + Left Click; this is the MSFS engine handling pop-ups, not us Standalone mode: this will transform the TDS GTNXi Pro in a regular Windows window and thus you can move it on a multiple monitor setup, external hardware Of course, we are interested in all feature requests from customers and we do listen to them. One of them has been dual VC integrated and standalone at the same time. While at this stage it is not possible, we are actively researching on the possibility of making this happen, without causing operational issues. As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions or feature requests. While we can't promise anything, we can assure you that we listen to all customers and make note of them. The TDS GTNXi Pro is in continued development!

That was the piece of information I was missing. Curiously I've noted that this only works with the "alt" key to the right of the spacebar and not the left one. I had actually tried various combinations of "ctrl", "fn" and "alt" left and right clicks before but they'd never worked because I usually default to using the left side keys. In any case, glad to have this sorted. Now, if someone can point me towards how to adjust the brightness on the GPS... Thanks so much for the help! Scott

It's a great time to startup again....there are many lovely GA addons that support the TDS GTNxi. You've got the A2A Comanche, Black Square Dukes (all their amazing other addons too), the SWS RV-14/10 (just about to support new G3X+GTN integration), the FSW C414 and Lear35, and a whole lot more checkout the site: https://tdssim.com/gtnxivcintegration | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

I have also noticed that MSFS treats the right and left ALT and CTRL keys as separate keys, which is most confusing when you first run into it.. As for the GPS, I have set up a key combination for zooming the panel. I use right mouse button+mouse wheel, which after a while becomes second nature. Custom camera views can be handy as well. As for airplanes, I second Ryan's comments... there are some really nice GA aircraft available with Blacksquare high up on the list.. I love their A36 and Piston Duke in particular. There are also some amazing freeware mods, with the King Air G1000 panel as my current favorite.. Edited July 19, 20241 yr by Bert Pieke Bert

It's been a while. Yep, this did seem like a good time to jump back in. There're a bunch of well-reviewed GA planes that were favorites of mine in Prepar3d, albeit generally from different developers, the TDS is exactly what I'd hoped it would be and everything else looks awesome. I'm still mostly tweaking, getting controls and switches configured and the like, but the short flights I've done have been exciting. Very much looking forward to time in this sim. 5 hours ago, Bert Pieke said: Hi Scott, Nice to see you back, and welcome to MSFS! I've also set up some custom views and am slowly getting things in shape. Blacksquare does seem like a dev I'm going to enjoy. I did pick up their A36 and just completed my first short flight with it out of Aspen (the turbo normalized version!) and I know I'm going to love flying this one. The Dukes are also very much on my radar as soon as I feel like I'm ready for a twin again. I'm just a bit rusty right now! Looking forward to all that's ahead as I get back into the groove.
