July 25, 20241 yr Before discovering all the POI's of UK and Ireland I executed a first flight over London to examen how good the latest WU has modelled this world-city. One big issue is that the naval heritage ship HMS Belfast is replaced by 2 modern motoryachts in lenght and the watersurface of shipping on the Thames is not fine made, I hope soon been updated via a patch by Asobo?Microsoft. Concerning the buildings all around, they are in my opinion very well modelled but no vehicles or pedestrians to see in public areas. Hereby a selection(max. 20 shots allowed per posting) of my roundflight over London as a sightseeing-tour in a Cessna 172N:
July 25, 20241 yr It would be interesting to check the sim's performance with these new POI's compared to the previous London with the ORBX London Landmarks installed, because it looks that both are adding more or less the same emblematic 3d-modeled buildings. monuments, bridges, etc. Anyone? July 26, 20241 yr London approach in the SIM has been always a curse...🙂...from my experience...performance wise...I mean since the FSX/Orbx days...including MSFS... Your cityscape pictures look really sharp and beautiful after the Update, no molten buildings I can spot at all... Thanks for sharing...! Are you flying with PG on or off ... (though my experience in Xbox could be different) ... Yes, I distinctly recall one of your posts with collected POIs, with all the images B2B together...that was incredible...

Hello, Nothing changed on the settings, so PG ON. Still a pitty about issue on the reproduction of the Thames under bridges and around boats. Ships and boats looks like being stranded on a sandbank and bridges build above a sandbank 😔
July 28, 20241 yr Excellent screenies, Johnny! Thanks for taking us along. Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080
July 30, 20241 yr We stayed in London recently, and from our hotel on Buckingham Gate could easily stroll around to many of these famous landmarks. We jumped on a Thames ferry to Greenwich, and I can confirm there are no sandbanks around the boats! When the sim update came around I thought I would take my helicopter out of EGLC up the reverse track along the Thames, to compare. Lucky I scrolled the posts here before posting what amounts to a duplicate trip! Great minds... great series of shots, high immersion and you'll agree the update nailed it with those few proviso's. Especially agree with you on HMS Belfast, it is such an iconic fixture on the river, right next to Tower Bridge; they really should put it in I dropped ORBX EGLC into the sim, and am seeing stutters for the first time ever. Maybe there will be a post-update mod. Edited July 30, 20241 yr by WingZ
July 30, 20241 yr Hi @ikbenik, nice shots and London is certainly looking a whole lot better now. FYI, and for anyone else who's interested, the Orbx London Landmarks package (and GB South) both work fine with the new PG, and in fact (to my eyes) enhance it considerably. The "Belfast" is back in its place, for example, along with a few other corrections to the PG stuff. For me, there are still issues, particularly with the Thames waterline, in the PG, but overall the combination now makes London one of the best cities to explore, rather than one of the worst as it was. Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

So, The ORBX package London and GB South are compatible and can be used together with WU XVII ? If so, I will try it also and post a compare shot, thank you for the info.

Haven't seen any problems myself and I'll definitely carry on using them. I have probably a couple of hundred bits of addon stuff for the UK, what with airports and little POIs like various piers, docks etc all over the place so I shall just run as usual and adjust as and when discrepancies arise. I'm certainly not going to run through all that lot checking everything out. My general impression of the WU17 update is "great!"
