Looking for payware Airports

Sometimes I enjoy flying bush trips around my old childhood home of Nicaragua and default airports fills the bill with ORBX NA which in some ways looks more realistic than photoscenery.

Hi,

Can anybody recommend a good freeware scenery for two Canadian airport sceneries: Calgary and Winnipeg. The only pay ware versions I can find come in packages including airports I already have or don't want.

I  am running P3d v5.4. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

you might be out of luck for Calgary but here is Winnipeg.....it works great in v5. To be clear, it's the ProjectSierra one.

For what it's worth I have the FSimStudios CYYC working just fine in V5.4.

Hi, thanks for the the info, however when trying to install cywg I get a scenery config error. I went into the XML file and added my user name but still get the same error. Is their anything else I am missing.

Sorry to bother you.

@wanabflyer Here's a site that lists all known freeware airports for Canada (and everywhere else for that matter).  I found some really nice Canadian airports here.

FSX Canada sceneries (freewarescenery.com)

Also here is a payware version of Yellowknife airport, I own it and it's really nice.  It's also very cheap.

That link does not have the ProjectSierra scenery though. The guy that updates it is missing quite of few gems out there....both freeware and payware.

@ wanabflyer, I will have to check. I've been using the Simaddons version of CYWG for awhile now but do not recall any issue with the ProjectSierra one. Did you try adding the scenery with Lorby tool? If I remember correctly, that is the way I added to the scenery library.

I think that site is still a work in progress, but I could be wrong.  It's nice that at least someone has taken it upon themselves to try to make an easy way to find freeware airports.  I still have found some nice gems on that site even though it might not have everything.

If you want some high quality payware airports there's some great airport developers out there besides Orbx and they tend to have more sales lately so keep an eye on their sites for sales.

Here's a quick list of payware airport developers to check out:

FlyTampa: FlyTampa

FSDG: Full Sceneries (fsdg-online.com)

FlightBeam: Prepar3D Products – Flightbeam Webstore

LFVR: FSX/P3D products – LVFR (latinvfr.com)

BluePrint SImulations: BluePrint Simulations

Also check out the airports on SImmarket, there's some there that you can't find anywhere else.  There's other developers out there too but these are just the ones that come to mind atm.

There's also a lot of good quality freeware airports if you take the time and do some searching on the web.  With web searches sometimes you have to be a bit creative in your searches.  Looking for freeware airports is kind of like treasure hunting, sometimes you come up empty but once in a while you'll stumble across some fantastic gems.  Just be persistent and don't give up and I guarantee that you will find some great airports.
