Numerous individuals, including pilots, non-pilots, and students pursuing an IFR ticket or practicing approaches, use flight simulators to practice various approaches that require certain visibility. It's an invaluable tool for them, but the lack of this feature diminishes the overall experience. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

I want realisim just as much as the next guy, but one has to remember, MSFS is an entertainment product and priced as such. It has never claimed to be a Level D simulator. You can practice IFR with MSFS, but you can not log IFR hours towards your license. hardly anyone around here needs a FAA certified training device. https://aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/78442/what-are-some-faa-approved-simulators-for-home-that-i-can-log-time-on Edited October 13, 20241 yr by turbomax AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler. 60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking. very nice.

And the more realistic the better. Just pointing out that for a $60-$100 entertainment product that is designed for all users, you need to have realistic expectations. There is no mention of a Level D simulator or IFR certification. I mentioned only practicing IFR procedures and matching the visual requirements on the approach plates as closely as possible to the minimums. Perhaps we should stay away from this misinformation about product price and acknowledge that P3D or X-PLANE, also entertainment products, for almost the same price as MSFS, has a way to customize visibility. Some of us, regardless of what is available and is a good option to enhance the sim experience, is more important to argue. It is very disappointing and unproductive. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

Which myself and others have given. Some of those opinions you may not like or agree with. Fair enough, but disappointing and unproductive? I highly doubt that anything discussed here will have any inpact on what MSFS does with their software. Misinformation? P3D was never really an entertainment product and X-Plane also have some commercial use side of it. Anyway, I said all I am going to say on this. Hope someday MSFS delivers what your looking for.
