today I got access to the Tech Alpha of MSFS2024 and tested AxisAndOhs with it.

In general, everything seemed to work. I've tested sim events and variables, LVars, IEs, BVars and HVars. They all worked as before. 
But a new version of AAO, made specifically for MSFS2024, will be required. It doesn't work with the existing MSFS variant of AAO. 

The one thing that didn't work was the InGame panel. But since those panles are generally there, this is probably just a glitch.

As of today, what will not work are the WebFMCs and the bridge addons that I made to transport data from the sim. In MSFS2024 several core files have been locked and can no longer be overridden by an addon package. Should this logic remain in place, several existing popular addons will no longer be possible (and I don't mean Lorby, I mean everyone). The WebFMC for aircraft that have their own API (like PMDG) will continue to work though.

Happy to hear that. Since i bought, i cannot fly without it.

@Lorby_SI Been thinking of getting AAO and a stream deck for MSFS2024. What would the ETA on a new version of AAO for MSFS2024 be? I'm not sure what the webFMCs you were referring to in the last paragraph. Just want to make sure it will work before spending that much on something.

We don't have early access, so the app will be released once we had a chance to test it with the actual retail version of MSFS2024. If there are no problems, then AAO will ship they day after. But if there are, there is no way to estimate the necessary effort now. At the moment, the AAO 2024 version worked well with the tech alpha and the closed beta (one of the AAO testers is in the beta), except for the shortcomings mentioned above - which may be permanent.

@Lorby_SI Thanks for the clarification. I'll wait until the new version is released then purchase the Stream deck and AAO. Hopefully it will be smooth development for you! I'm looking forward to the added functionality this will provide.

I am also happy to hear that AAO will work with MSFS 2024.

Since I have already a quite large AAO database for MSFS 2020 planes my question is, if the database files ConfigDatabase_MSFS.xml and UserScripts.xml will we used by both versions (2020 + 2024) together or there will be a new database folder for AAO 2024 (esp. with new ConfigDatabase_MSFS.xml and UserScripts.xml files) ? 
If yes, will there be a possibility for databbase conversion from 2020 to 2024?

Database files are the same, they just have different names. You can copy-paste-rename. But I doubt that the aircraft will be the same. Plus, see above, there are limitations in 2024. Testers are telling me that BVars are no longer working in MSFS 24, so some scripts will have to be rewritten to use IEs instead. (I don't have access to MS24, can't confirm or deny)

Will there be a short instruction for AAO 2024 Which xml-files have to copied and renamed? (I think ConfigDatabase_MSFS.xml and UserScripts_MSFS.xml are the most important ones, but there are some more in the folder ... )

If, as you wrote, sim events and variables like LVars, and HVars still work as like in MSFS 2020 that would be great. As IEs can be used for most BVars the latter would not be so important for me.

I would move over and rename -all- XML files that haven't got an index ("_1, _2" etc.), since the indexed ones are just backup copies. You can disregard all logfiles, only the XML matter.
Maybe just create a backup zip with the built in backup feature, and then port over the files that are in the resulting ZIP archive. That should be everything you need.

I honestly cannot guarantee that the transition will be that seamless though. We can only hope for the best. I've seen quite a few aircraft where behavior code and javascript were generated, not written by hand. There is always the possibility that their variables will have completely different names when a new build of the aircraft is made for MS24.

I purchased AAO via simmarket.com. Will AAO 2024  be released there and if yes on which date?

The MS24 installer will be part of the AAO version 4.50 release.

I cannot tell you when - we don't have early access to MS24, since AAO cannot be sold in the Marketplace. I was only able to take a look at it during the 2 day tech Alpha, that's all. We are in the same boat as for example Fenix. Once MS24 drops, a yet undetermined amount of time will be required to analyze the sim and identify the items that no longer work - so customers can at least be warned. If the rumors about the locked core filesystem are true, then nothing can be done about that, and people need to know what is still working - and what isn't (like the BVars, but I also have heard bad things about the InGame panel compatibility). This will hit more addons than just AAO.

I hope after you get the MS2024 AAO version released you would post instructions in maybe a pdf file with it on a step by step guide to transfer all of our configuration files. Thank you

Yes. The current AAO distribution has 9 installers, and the MS24 variant will just be one more.
