November 20, 20241 yr I installed 2024 on my SSD in the MSFS folder where my 2020 resides. When I go to this folder the only thing there is MSFS 2024 and it's Content folder. There is none of the other files including the Community folder. The 2020 Package folder which includes the 2020 Community folder is still there. I would like to add some of these files to the 2024 Community Folder but I can't find it. I would also like to add an icon for 2024 to my taskbar but can't find the .exe file or any of the 2024 files for that matter. I have to go to the Microsoft Store to open 2024. Where are they? i7-10700 CPU @2.90 GHz, 32 GB Ram, nVadia GTX1660ti, Samsung 1 TB SSD Drive

November 20, 20241 yr Just now, Roy Warren said: This is no help for me, I'm looking in File Explorer for it. I don't have any idea what MKLINK means, MKLINK does NOT move the folder. You have to do that yourself then MKLINK fools Windows into believing it's at original location instead of where you WANT it to be. Incredibly archaic and inefficient install method for a modern product. Experts ONLY! Russell Gough SE London
November 20, 20241 yr For a shortcut you need to go into the XBox app - select MSFS 2024 then find thge 3 dots at the top left of the screen - click and select Manage This will open a screen that allows you to create a desktop shortcut - from the desktop icon you can then create a taskbar icon Getting to the Community Folder screen is a bit of a fiddle First click on the Green FS Marketplace icon - then click on My library - then look for the small cog next to the Search box That will show you the location of your current Community folder and probably change the location if you want to (not tried it yet but have heard it works) Hope this helps 9800X3D + RTX 4080 + 64GB DDR5

I'll try it. This is what is called "Having to jump through hoops". Totally unacceptable. Now, to get my controls back. They were lost. i7-10700 CPU @2.90 GHz, 32 GB Ram, nVadia GTX1660ti, Samsung 1 TB SSD Drive
November 20, 20241 yr For your controls I can recommend going to flighstim to and downloading FS2020 Control it will allow you to export a list of you MSFS 2020 controls to Excel or pdf as a reference guide. Edited November 20, 20241 yr by TonyD 9800X3D + RTX 4080 + 64GB DDR5
November 20, 20241 yr Unfortunately 2024 doesn't allow the core to install under the usual C:\XboxGames folder and then during install opt for another folder to place the Community and the other folder whose name I don't recall from 2020... Only option is to place the whole install under another drive, and then you can schoose a folder, but some base system folders will be replicated there 😕 I really don't like it this way but it works ... And yes I've seen that you can edit and move the folder you created to another destination, but not the replicated system folders, which have somehow "poluted" my F: drive where I have my other flightsims... November 20, 20241 yr I have the Steam version; however, the Community folder, rolling cache and other files are installed in my C drive in the folder C:\Users\[My user name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Luckily, it is very easy to move the Community folder and rolling cache to another drive that has more space without using MKLINK or any other type of symbolic link and without direct modifying the configuration folder. TonyD in his post above has the right idea. Move the community folder As described by TonyD in his post above. "First click on the Green FS Marketplace icon - then click on My library - then look for the small cog next to the Search box. That will show you the location of your current Community folder and probably change the location if you want to (not tried it yet but have heard it works)" Move the Rolling Cache Go to Settings/General/Online and click on the Rolling Cache Path. Choose a different rolling cache folder. Save your settings. After these changes my Community Folder and my Rolling Cache are on my D Drive instead of my C Drive.
