Should You REInstall MSFS 2024?

Featured Replies

@vonduck Yes. You will need to reinstall all the stuff out of the Community Folder. GSX will Relink, Fenix shows you an install button.

Even though I first installed a day or two after the release fiasco I did have it installed before they properly got a hold on the server issues the first weekend, so as per the information in the Q&A I decided on a fresh reinstall (AppData folder deleted as well) just to be safe. As already mentioned all settings/bindings are saved in the Cloud, the only thing I backed up and replaced was the usercfg.opt file with all the graphics options in it (this is not saved on the Cloud) and increased the Cache to 128gb from default 16gb.

Before reinstall start up time = 3m 36secs
After reinstall start up time = 3m 00secs

I did a quick couple of benchmarks but they're practically identical, I guess if there's any difference I'll find out next time I do a proper flight.

I saw this, skipped to the time stamp where the reinstall is finally discussed.

there's no money in getting straight to the point in a youtube video.....

27 mins??? is this guy for real??

absolute grifters these people

I've had major issues with this sim since launch.  But I am extremely pleased to report that after re-installing the sim a second time it is working wonderfully.  I think there are some corrupt files when you install that are infecting the entire sim experience.  I have smooth as butter sim, my Fenix finally loaded with liveries, GSX Pro is working, BATC is working, AIG models are working (haven't tried other models yet), no blurry textures and fps is steady capped at 60fps even at airports.  Haven't tried NYC yet.  But everything is looking really good.

So strongly suggest, even if you tried reinstall, to do it again and follow Overkill steps.

One other thing:  There is some weird stuff going on with the save locations.  The sim will switch to default location sometimes.  So if stuff is not showing or working, check the save location within the my library in the sim.  I hope Asobo can fix this quickly.

Hello Gang.  Can anyone indicate what is the proper process to follow to uninstall and re-install while keeping all the bindings and settings?  Thanks a million.

I think it depends on whether you have Steam or Store. With Steam you just follow the prompts. Thei Steam site uses old fashioned and easy to understand Windows menus to do things like that.
