January 1, 20251 yr Hello jcomm, the last time I installed FSHud, stable was version 1.3 or 1.4. Because of that, I went direct for beta. V2 is infinitely better regarding performance. Looking at the changelogs for beta and stable, I cannot see any significant differences between beta and stable since the stable version went live on December 9th. The latest stable version is December 25th. I'm on stable v2.0.139. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
January 2, 20251 yr Author Thank you all! Yesterday I installed FSLTL again because when I reduced the textures I had problems, and a kind user even suggested how to fix it using a JSON "fix" but I was not willing to go that way, so, 4k textures will be and so far I don't have any performance problems. Also used FSHUD for the first time since I purchased the upgrade to v2, and was satisfied with the results. I'm on stable 2.0.139 🙂 Next session will be on BATC with FSLTL... January 2, 20251 yr The beta will usually be at least as, and often more up to date than, the stable version. When the developer creates the stable version there is a rebuild process which means that the build number will be higher than the beta version, but as they're usually built from the same sources they'll contain the same features and fixes. I guess that occasionally there will be a hotfix required which the developer will push out to the stable version, and will update the source for the beta, but might not push out the beta immediately, as it may be in the process of being more extensively updated. When it is pushed it would include the updates in the hotfix. For what it's worth I always run with the beta - it's usually very stable in its own right, and will include new features, which we all like to have. 😀 Edited January 2, 20251 yr by ConstVoid Ian Box

Which is why I wrote: When the developer creates the stable version there is a rebuild process which means that the build number will be higher than the beta version. Or, to put it another way, when creating a stable version the developer takes the latest beta build and rebuilds it for the stable, so it has a later version. So if the stable version number is higher than the beta then it means that there have been no other beta builds since the stable was cut. Edited January 2, 20251 yr by ConstVoid Ian Box

I'm familiar with that process 😁 And that's why I decided to go with stable this turn around... But I'll keep an eye out for betas... January 9, 20251 yr Well, since Jcomm was giving it another chance, I decided that I could as well, despite my less-than-favorable opinion of the previous versions general usability..... So I got over the bad taste and downloaded 2.0, loaded it up, and..... Got in one flight, in which I took off and landed successfully. Time for bed. Next morning the program would not function, and any attempt to use it led to a crash. MSFS2020 would CTD within a minute of FSHUD activation. Well it worked once, right? What could have changed? This led to the knowledge base, changing settings, watching videos and the loss of a day. At this point, the thing many would do is start a thread to rant about garbage products and incompetent developers, but I was not interested in that. After all, if so many others were using it apparently without issue, then any problems were likely to be computer or user error. Me-problem? 2nd day, more fiddling and no resolution despite me practically disassembling my machine, my OS and my simulator installation. Rewatching videos. Was it a problem on my machine with MSFS2020, or would it crash with 2024 as well? Ok, lets bite the bullet and (sigh) upgrade to the 2024 version. $17 (bleah) Crash, crash crash! Hmmmmmmmm..... Rewatched videos again, including a nice one from Captain Piet, and once again mirrored others settings. Crash, crash. Removed FSLTL and tried downloading AIG Aircraft. Repeated download freeze trying to get the AIG aircraft. Hours of attempts. Time to punt: Found a github repository of collected downloads. Downloaded in about 4 minutes. Installed AiG craft, downloaded Beta AIG Manager 2024 version, Overwrote old files, updated simobjects..... Still not working. Deep breath. I HAD to be doing something wrong. A clue was that in MSFS2024, gates were opening and closing randomly and tarmac vehicles were glitching wildly as well as the AIG planes not appearing, or acting strangely when they did. (Also instant crash when attempting to import simbrief plans) Crash. I went to the FSHUD discord yet again, and this time focused on gates malfunctioning. This (accidently) led me to another user having the same issue and a proposed solution. This sheparded me into changing some settings I was previously not even aware of being in the sim, and a resolution of the immediate wildness and crashing. 1st successful flight with MSFS2024 with FSHUD 2nd successful flight. Ok, lets apply what we've learned. Back into MSFS2020: change some settings closer to 2024... 1st Successful flight 2nd and third successful flight. What was I doing wrong? Online tutorials I came across were not granular-detailed as to internal MSFS2024 settings: MSFS2024 SETTINGS! (Aig Aircraft) (Manager not installed) General- Graphics - Air Traffic (OFF) General- Graphics - Traffic Airport Quality (OFF) (Otherwise everything may glitch uncontrollably) General - Online - Aircraft Traffic Type (OFF) Essentially it was that simple. (rolls eyes) The saving grace was that I never assumed that the developers sucked. I was always aware it could be a ME problem. THE END 😕 We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... Even though the solution turned out to be simple, the process of finding the solution is often not. I wonder if it is described clearly somewhere the need to change those settings? When I first used FSHud with 2024 I missed the traffic airport quality, which led to problems. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

Well, I was kinda hoping to find the info in yours (and others) videos! 🙃 However, most of the stuff people were posting tended to start from the perspective of changing the FSHUD settings and going into detail on that and AIG etc, but not very much on changes to the sim settings. FSHUDS own videos were not informative on that either, or were regarding the previous version. And the Discord...... Eh. In the end, I found the data, but it was kind of buried in a way that obscured its location. I did the obvious and searched the programs knowledge base that told me Nada. I also searched through the programs support info with the exact same results. It was only after the problem was resolved, when I was doing due diligence that I found these important settings under "checklists". To be specific, "MSFS settings checklist" which may be kinda obvious in retrospect, but my eyes went past it SEVERAL times while looking in the more conspicuous places. Even then, these listed settings are 2020 specific and only partially relevant to 2024s needed settings. Only by going back and scouring the Discord (nose pressed against screen) did I pretty much accidently come across the relevant info (below) This also led me to some specific info from the developer on the discord, but cannot locate it again.
