While preview videos and YouTube content suggest a more polished experience, the reality is somewhat different. The traffic system shows promise, but it does come with a noticeable performance impact, especially for VR users like myself who are already pushing hardware limits. I've been using BATC with automated responses only and have encountered several issues: 1. Runway conflicts: Aircraft landing on occupied runways where another plane has been instructed to line up and wait. 2. Departure delays: Getting stuck waiting for takeoff when the lead aircraft stops receiving instructions, with no option to request clearance. 3. Approach vectors: Consistently receiving approach vectors that place aircraft beyond localizer range, requiring self vectoring to intercept, otherwise I overshoot the approach path with no further instructions from ATC. 4. VR compatibility: Experiencing fatal crashes when switching out of VR mode since the latest update. Given these challenges, I've decided to shelve BATC temporarily to allow for further development and refinement. Regarding alternatives, I've tested the free trial of SI. While it offers an immersive experience, the lack of AI traffic and the ongoing subscription cost make it a less appealing option for me at this time. I'm optimistic about BATC's potential but it does need more time to mature which is fair since it is clearly sold as early access. I look forward to revisiting it in the future when some of these issues have been addressed. You need to post this on their Discord page so they can fix it.
January 4, 20251 yr I'm using it with FSLTL, and I purchased, at release, the version that would give me early access to features like that of AI Traffic , not available at release, but I haven't purchased any additional "voice pack " Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
January 5, 20251 yr Author Soooo... another flight. Things went better. I re-did the voice recognition, as well as lowered my aircraft sounds, and "learned" to reply how BATC expects. The experience was better. However, in LDDU, it gave me a STAR and RWY, but then decided to vector me - which was completely useless, as it turned me right, without any sense, so I did a circle and navigated myself. Could have remained on the STAR and all would have been fine.

Even if you are on the TBARR3 STAR and expecting ILS 34R let's say. Approach will still give commands like "United 236 Turn right heading 060, maintain 170 knots. Then "United 236 Turn left heading 010, descend and maintain 9,000. intetercept localizer 34 R. BATC mostly gets it right from what I ahve witnessed but I do notice it waits too long to give the commands by about 1 minute. If they can figure out how to judge position more quickly they might be able to get the commands out in time to avoid bad turns. I notice it is especially bad when other traffic is talking. I have also noticed that if a third party scenery is out of date it will mess everything up as well. Programmed ATC is an infinitely complex problem to solve in a flight sim. I believe BATC will eventually get it down better, its already leaps and buounds better than an other ATC program we have ever had. If you need realisim just try to find a VATSIM controller, to bad you always have to fly where the controllers are, not where you want to fly. This is why I use BATC and not VATSIM. I have never once had a good session where I had ATC all the way.
