January 24, 20251 yr Just thought I'd start a thread for feedback concerning SU1 and VR. 2D users seem to be reporting improvements and although there's nothing in it for VR we at least can know if things are starting to change for the better on this side as well.😐 FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
January 24, 20251 yr There was one stated fix for VR users but that's it, Martial simply doesn't care for VR that much is obvious, so as long as he's in charge of VR it'll always be regarded as extremely low priority 😡 Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1 Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)
January 24, 20251 yr For me, the improvement in textures and clarity is impressive. I'm running a Quest 3 on an RTX 3070 and all of a sudden, I feel as I'm in the same sim as the 4090 guys on YouTube. I have done nothing to settings (which means they are mostly medium and DLSS). All though nothing seems to have been done that is VR specific, we seem to get the same improvements in visuals as the pancake people. Well worth it so far.
January 24, 20251 yr Any fps gain in VR? Dying to know.. 9950X3D / 64GB / RTX5090 / Pimax Crystal Light / Win11
January 24, 20251 yr For me with my 4090 and 7900X3D and processor using my Varjo aero there is still a lack in performance (TLOD 150 OLOD150) when DLSS with balanced settings and raytrace on. From time to time I get an bad hickup.(Long frame with audio crackle) And that is so annoying I can't use it this way. Visually it's super improved compared to non beta SU1. But the every 5 to 10 second short freeze (less than a sec) is so bad it's not nice to fly this way. Tested the Fenix . Regards, Marcus P.

Some folks here will have followed my experiments with settings, etc, to try to get MSFS2024 at least as good as MSFS2020 in VR (yes, I know that's a low ambition bar for 2024, but we are starting from a very low bar!). Well, even after seriously crashing my PC, while trying to increase my RAM, and having to reload both sims and everything else from scratch (Windows 11 forced me into a reload with only 'delete all files' as an option...nice of it) and then trying to remember the subtle tweaks and somersaults to get both sims at their optimum for my system...it's back! I am able to fly both sims in VR pretty much as I'd got them pre the crash. And this has confirmed, as more than chance, that MSFS2024 does appear to have at least one merit that maybe we VR users can exploit. And that is: MFSF2024 in VR appears to be MUCH more tolerant to low FPS than MSFS2020 (or even X-plane11, for that matter). Before my system crash, I was noticing this mostly with the smoothness of flight, and comment on it in my earlier posts. I have to say, I also think that something has changed in MSFS2020 that has deteriorated VR performance (I will keep my conspiracy thoughts to myself), but - at it's best - MSFS2020 and/or the addons would have been struggling in VR when it regularly dips down to 24 - 27FPS. But, pre-crash, MSFS2024 didn't seem to mind (yes, it HATED other normal stuff, but not that). And now I have both sims reestablished - and have been trying to get BeyondATC back to where I was before - which was previously great, even with live traffic on. I started with MSFS2020, as I've used BATC in VR on this for some time. Wouldn't work. Instant response in 2D, no response in VR. I tried all the normal stuff (HAGS off; BATC FPS settings, etc, etc); I tried Discord and all their suggestions. Nope. Results were either no PTT (press to talk) response or massive lags (minutes between, say pressing the button and the ping to say you could start speaking). I checked RAM, VRAM loading - all well within limits. Tried it with the Crystal Light and Quest 3. Nothing doing. So I started reducing the Crystal Light render settings from my normal 1.2xHigh down to High. No change. Then down to Medium - got some response in BATC at last, but unusable lag. Then left it at Medium and booted up AutoFPS. BATC response was back! Still laggy, but usable. Checked and FPS was hovering around the 30FPS mark without AutoFPS and 34-37 with. So, for the first time since the post-crash reestablishment, I tried BATC with MSFS2024 in VR. BATC worked perfectly. I turned off AutoFPS. Still worked perfectly. I went back to High render value on the Pimax Crystal. BATC still worked perfectly. Checked the FPS 27-34. I can't explain it - and would love someone to verify it - but MSFS2020 is, like most VR sims, quite sensitive to very low FPS. MSFS2024 appears to be more forgiving. Having seen the CRAZY pricing of high end GPUs (we are getting into 2nd Hand car territory!), this might be important in the future... Than restart the sim. This option is used for VR too ...but I'm not sure though.... Regards, Marcus P.

January 26, 20251 yr What I found is that to turn Raytracing on/off in VR, you need to start with "High" settings first. In Ultra settings Raytracing is grayed out, but in High settings it's available and you can turn it on/off and it will stay that way. 1 hour ago, turbomax said: didn't work for me. and I wouldn't know why the 2D settings should affect the VR seetings. 9950X3D / 64GB / RTX5090 / Pimax Crystal Light / Win11
January 26, 20251 yr thanks, interesting find! never occurred to me since I had always set everything manually, many settings even on ULTRA as you can see in my 2 screenshots above. I would consider this a UI "bug".
