Lossless scaling and fps lock

Featured Replies

Hi

After installing the new dlss, i am trying to see if lossless scaling can also help with fps.

I have a 120hz monitor

So from what i understand i should lock my fps at 40 and put Lossless in x3 mode to reach the monitor rate (correct me if i am wrong 🙂 )

The big problem is that when i am trying to lock my fps at 40 in nvidia app, the sim get stuck at 6% loading langages.

Is there another way to lock fps ?

Thanks 🙂

You can lock frame rate in the sim itself and also try max frame rate in nvidia CP.

word not allowed you may have spot a game changer setting for my setup.

I always used the framegen mod (which deactivate the vsync in game option) and i think it was not working great with lossless scaling

Now i tried to deactivate framegen mod and i activated vsync with 50% refresh rate which in theorie should max my fps to 60 ? I then launched lossless scaling and put it on x2

I now have a good 40 base fps that give me around 75/80 fps and everything is smooth

A good exemple that we should always try settings on our own instead of just blind follow all youtube videos 😅

Thanks

Riva Tuner Statistics Server, a.k.a. RTSS.

Lossless Scaling for all my sims. What a godsend...

I use Riva Tuner to lock my fps at 60 for my 60Hz monitor in conjuction with lossless scaling.

I had no clue until I read Ianrevaldosmith's Lossless here in Tips 2020 forum.

BTW, when he says to turn off Vsync in Lossless, he means to do this in the LS app: Rendering, Sync Mode, Off (Allow Tearing).

It can't tear if you have a 120 Hz monitor and have 38 fps locked in RivaTuner. and are using Lossless X3. Since it can't tear, you allow tearing in Lossless (i.e. turn off Vsync in Lossless).

And as he says, also turn off Vsync in MSFS and also turn it off in the program settings tab for both 2024 and 2020 in Nvidia Control Panel.

Turn if off ! Turn it all off !

Bring back the subject

as i can now get a constant 30fps almost everywhere i would like to cap my FPS at 30 then use Lossless scaling to X2 to reach 60 ( i have a 120hz monitor that I cap at 60)

I tried with RTSS but this programm drops my fps drasticaly, from 30 to around 5/10

is there any specific to do other than just set a framerate limit ?

thanks

Do you have pop out windows?

Also, why are you capping a 120HZ monitor at 60? Leave it at 120HZ!

Also, use the new lossless scaling adaptive mode.

thanks, i cap the monitor at 60 instead of 120 because with my setup the max i can get in fps is 40/50 so if i use x2 from lossless scaling i thought it would cause conflict because i can t reach the 60 fps without it,

have to admit I don't understand everything with all those fps/framegen/lossless/rtsss and everythingn

thanks
