Runway "messed up".

Featured Replies

My local airport KOSH is recently a disaster zone. Even main runway 36 has right angles on it's surface, so that the plane can barely land on it. Taxiways are way worse than that and most planes and ground equipment are elevated. Don't know if this is a beta thing or being sent from the server that way. Cleared out the shader cache files just to see if that would make a difference but, no joy.

Looks like if one turns off photogrammetry, it flattens back out.

Is this default or an addon scenery you are using?

I saw the something like same thing a couple times with 2024, never with 2020. The runway at a major airport will be sloped in places. Not much but it's hard for me to believe a large international airport has slopes in the middle of a runway.

edit: I meant taxiway, not runway

In my experience this can happen a lot in 2020 too. Turning photogrammetry ON fixes it. It was noticeable around NY airports, Madrid and one or two others that are escaping me right now.

Seems its been a bug that Asobo/Microsoft are unwilling to address, unless its something they can't fix?

Runway 36 at KOSH does look lumpy, whether PG is on or off in 2024 Beta. You might want to file a bug report.

Whatever happened to the MSFS equivalent of the XP Scenery Gateway? I recall that at one point, it was made available to select scenery designers, but then it seemed to peter out. I wonder if the MS bureaucracy somehow made its FS implementation more trouble than it was worth, at least in terms of its worth to MS.

What do you mean by right angles? Does it look like this?

And if you roll over them at speed and have crash detection on, it registers an impact?

If so, I used to get those all the time in 2020 until I upgraded my card. I came to suspect those lines appear when the computer can't load in the scenery elements fast enough, causing the fractures.  Your card is better than the one I upgraded to, but I have seen them occasionally with the new card if I get too overconfident in how far I can turn the graphic settings up. Start by lowering some settings and see if they go away?

I have never seen anything like that in MSFS 2020, but then I never use default airports. As you can see in my signature, my GPU is considerably older than an RTX 3080.

Ok so, now we're on full SU1. My local airport, KOSH, is still a mess. Didn't start out that way when 2024 started out but, it appears to be staying that way now. I've reinstalled and still the issue persist. I have to believe this is coming to me from the server this way. Any remedy I might be missing? I will put in a bug report. Literally can't use the taxiway to 36.
