Optimize MSFS2024 via the Nvidia app????

Featured Replies

Hello Gang!

I see the Nvidia app provides recommendations for optimization for MSFS2024.  Is it safe to optimize via the Nvidia App or leave things alone?

Thanks for any input.

Sincerely,

Never, ever let nVIDIA App (or before GeForce Experience) "optimize" anything. It will most certainly mess things up.

I don't want to start any unnecessary discussions. I have used the Nvidia App with excellent results. However, the issue that bothers me is using DLSS for particular blurry readings on gauges, so I changed to TAA. Other than that................

I have used the nVidia app for optimization since it was released and so far it has yielded stable, reproducible results from the recommended settings. I may make small adjustments depending on which aircraft model I'm using and which airports are planned for departure and arrival, but otherwise the recommended settings have provided satisfactory guidance. Of course, you can move the settings slider and try alternative combinations for the sake of comparison. I also use MSFS_AutoFPS for dynamic adjustment of the relevant LOD parameters.

There will be those to whom this will sound like heresy, but so be it. I like flight simming, but not hardware tweaking. I'm guessing here, that the engineers who designed and built the GPUs that power our systems have forgotten more about how the various graphics settings work than I will ever learn. I have no idea what ambient occlusion is and could care less. Fortunately I don't have to in order to achieve good results.

Stay away, it'll mess up your settings and give you subpar performance. I usually go in and select individual options.

It allows you to preview the changes it suggests.  In some cases it surprised me and suggested higher settings than what I was running.  I noted the things it suggested changing but it also wanted to lower my LOD from 385 to 100 so I would just do the preview and then if you see any suggestions you want to try manually make the changes yourself.

But the preview was good.

Have a Wonderful Day

Interesting, I'm trying the Nvidia App and it will not optimize FS24' no matter what I do.

Same observation here.

It could be that the optimize feature isn't working with SU1 but this is the first I've heard of it not working.

I tried it a few versions back (when the "Optimize" option first appeared) and it changed around all of my MSFS2024 settings.   (!)  I shoulda known better.  But I got curious.

So now I do not allow it to optimize.   Anyway my advice is to not let it touch your sim settings.  You know better than the app does, by-and-large.  Or if you don't, someone around here will know the ideal settings to use.

I would not.  I'm going to assume for a second that it behaves the same way as optimizing 2020.  Last time I used the old GFE a couple years ago and forgot to disable that after a driver update, I figured out that it tried to optimize to get 60fps on your system which means EVERYTHING is going to get turned wayyyyy down.

edit:  You'd be better off using this guide on the official forums.  Same guy did the same excellent guide for 2020 as well. FS2024 Graphics Settings and Performance Guide (11/20/2024) - User Support Hub / Install, Performance & Graphics - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums
