Graphics settings feedback

Featured Replies

I'm running a Ryzen 5800X3D with 64Gigs of RAM and an RTX 3060. running 1440p on a G34WQC (Freesync on in monitor, 144hz refresh rate).

I'm wanting feedback first about NVIDA APP settings:

-DLSS enabled through Nvidia (latest drivers 572.83)--I've  selected "Latest" (is this the same as K?)

-DLSS override - Super Resolution set to use 3D application setting

DSR - Factors 1.78x ; Smoothness 33%

Low- Latency Mode: Global Off

Max Frame Rate: Global Off

Monitor Technology: Global - G-SYNC Compatible

VSync: Use 3D application Setting

Are these correct?

Then, I also have been using RivaTuner Statistics Server, but not sure if this interferes with things or should be used as well? Doesn't seem to help much.

I use Lossless Scaling LSFG 2.3 Mode x2, Performance On, Scaling FSR, Optimized Version

Finally in MSFS I have been running the following:

Anti-aliasing: DLSS

NVIDIA DLSS Super resolution: DLAA

Frame Gen: AMD FSR 3 x2

Reflex low latency: On

Using pretty modest settings under Advanced in MSFS:

TLOD 160

Off-screen pre-caching: LOW

Displacement Mapping: On

Buildings: High

Trees: Low

Plants: Low

Rocks: Low

Grass: Medium

OLOD:95

Vol Clouds: Ultra

Texture Res: Ultra

Anisotropic Filtering: 16X

Water waves: Med

Raytraced shadows: OFF

Shadow Maps 768

Terrain Shadows 256

Contact Shadows: med

Windshield Effects Med

Amb Occlusion: Med

Cubemap Reflections: 192

Raymarched Reflections: Med

Light Shafts: Med

DOF: Off

Motion Blur: Off

Glas Cockpit: Med

Caracters qualtiy: Low

Traffic airport quality: off

Air traffic: off

Road traffic: med

Sea traffic: High

Fauna: low

Finally, I'm running in windows Max power. Just not seeing consistent performance...it's reasonably smooth but there are stutters on take-off and landing. I've seen others in youtube with similar hardware showing 110 - 120fps (with frame gen) and I'm lucky to see 75.

Any feedback on highlighted questions above and on settings in general on how to improve this?

Thanks!

I don't see any indication of DLSS 4.0 showing on the screen anywhere, not sure how to verify that it is working along with version #

Still getting so-so and inconsistent performance (eg. in 737 somewhere between 35-60 fps (MSFS debug monitor). GPU always limited.

AMD 5830X

Nvidia RTX 3060

Win 11

I would start by lowering my texture res, it pounds the vram, when the vram gets full, stutters start.

Not sure how much vram the 3060 has but with a 4080 texture res on high the card was eating over 14gb of vram around NY.

Thanks that is a good start...3060 has 12Gb RAM. Welcome others' thoughts too pls!

This is taking a lot of performance from you - don't need this at 1440p resolution.

By doing this you can raise your other settings you have on low/med - you are taking a lot of the beauty out of MSFS by using DSR Factors.

Take the suggestion for setting the Texture Resolution to Med.

Terrain Shadows should be at least 512, this will make the scenery much more realistic especially from the distance. This setting is one of the most demanding though

Your system is more than capable of setting Rocks Plants and Trees to Medium

Lights Shaft set to low. This setting is still half baked. I dont notice anything different than Low.

Thanks everyone for this feedback so far, I'll experiment with those settings and changes. Also, do you think it makes a difference using a VPN or not given how much is streamed? I haven't been able to tell a consistent difference so far.

I never needed to use a VPN, no problems streaming here.

TLOD of 160 is way too high where you are having troubles (TO/Landing) for your hardware and the payoff is poor anyway and it's not only hard on the CPU but hits the GPU as well.  And you should not be using DLAA you should try Performance mode.  Pick up AutoFPS Reset or DynamicLOD Reset and play with TLOD which you may need to set closer to 50 tops while on the ground, and move up to NO MORE THAN 100 in the air.  And for your native frame rate (sans LS) no more than 30FPS which you can double etc w/ LS or other.
