I share your frustration.  Maybe just another part of the sim that is broken?

Should have said I'm on SU2 beta, latest version. You seeing this too?

No. With correct FOV, the scene is properly scaled, you are just viewing it through a small window. Compression starts when you widen the FOV beyond that, because then more scene is being squeezed int

This is driving me crazy!

I have checked Ctrl+F9 is mapped to 'save IFR Pilot view' (no conflicts with other commands).  I set up the correct FOV as described then press Ctrl+F9.  I exit the sim and later re-load, but Alt+F9 (set to load IFR pilot view)  does not return me to the saved view.  I have tried the 'reset IFR view too.

Nothing I try saves the new view!

What is the specific name of the command you use to load the IFR view? Normally, the IFR/VFR/Landing Pilot Camera views are triggered by the "Next Pilot Position" or "Previous Pilot Position" commands. You can also switch between all the available views from the "Camera" menu. AFAIK there is no command to directly load the VFR/IFR/Landing Pilot view (except for the VFR view, which is loaded by default whenever you use the "Camera Reset / Reset Cockpit View" command).

Actually, my default keyboard preset in MSFS 2024 doesn't even have any command for Alt+F9.

That puts my nose almost to the top of the dashboard in the new CRJ.

May be real, but makes it hard to check your instruments

The notes I posted previously were for the PMDG 737.

I've just setup a couple of my other aircraft (Comanche and FSL A321), and I had to use 'Save VFR Pilot View' CTRL F10, 'IFR Pilot View' didn't work...

Use cockpit translation to move your eyepoint back.

For the A321 I had to compromise slightly on the FOV as pulling the eyepoint back until I could see the main displays put my head in the middle of the headrest. I also tilted my view down slightly. The FOV also makes the views of the overhead panel and pedestal so much better, I don't have to zoom in now to read anything.

You can translate the camera viewpoint backwards. If the seatback gets into view, unfortunately there is no way around it, unless the developer provides an option to hide the seat (PMDG) or at least move it back (Fenix).

Might be useful, here is a link to a video describing in detail a more realistic FoV in an airliner cockpit (of course, it still depends on one's screen size and distance):

Lol, the A321 view I just set up is exactly the same as A330 Driver 🙂

You might be right, it looks like Comanche's camera.cfg file doesn't define the IFR Pilot view camera under the available camera definitions.

The 320 video is what I get.

Also, the zoom setting I got is similar to what  what I calculated a couple of years ago with another more complicated web page made more for Car racing.

Will give it a try.

Anything for more realism

Thanks for the help

I am using panel pop outs on another screen so i don't need to see the instruments in the A320 - that coupled with a Streamdeck, a sort of poor mans home cockpit really... close is good though
