I was using lossless with the 4090 for more consistent frame generation.  I was using DLSS too.  I am really not an expert in these things so was basically following what others were doing.

I see. The reason I ask is that it seems like a strange choice… I was under the impression Lossless Scaling was more of an option for getting DLSS like features on games that didn’t support it.  I’d be very surprised if it works better than Nvidias own tech which uses AI. But I don’t know how Lossless Scaling really works.

Thanks. I'm trying out AutoFPS... that app is a god-send! What a genius solution to quality vs performance. I don't need high TLOD when I'm landing at a busy add-on airport in an airliner, but when I'

I'm almost certain the LOD Is more aggressive and the image clarity is slightly reduced in 2024 due to Xbox support.  As much as we don't want to admit it, Xbox sales are what propel the franchise.

I run with everything maxed. TLOD 400. OLOD 200. FG X2 when flying GA. FG X3 when flying 737. Max frames set to 120 for GA and 90 for 737, so I do not hear my fans.

I’m a bit late to this but in FS2024, how can you get higher TLOD/OLOD settings than are available in the settings menu? Is there a settings file somewhere you’re editing?

You can set it higher manually in the UserCfg.opt file, noting that the number you see in this file is LOD divided by 100 so TLOD 400 is shown as 4.000000. AutoFPS can also set it higher, with TLOD 2000 being the highest I've seen anyone practically achieve.

AutoFPS is Absolutely Brilliant.  The idea behind its success is so brain dead obvious that it makes one wonder why its not a built in feature, but I'm preaching to the choir here.

This topic caught my eye for this week I got all my parts together for building my new 9800X3D 5090 computer for VR flight simming.  I'm naming it "New Kitchen", for I could probably have got a new dishwasher, stove and fridge for what it's costing me.

I’m envious. It is ridiculous what Nvidia is charging for GPUs. If it’s not bitcoin mining it’s AI driving prices to compete with multiple kitchen appliances. I would probably buy an Nvidia reference 5090 if I could get one at MSRP, as I could sell my 4090 for about 2/3rds the cost of the 5090, but they’re still like unobtainium in Canada.
