This is the way. Im running a 7950x3d/4090 and I recently found out that MSFS2024 values latency over raw power. With that being said,an aggressive core offset could undervolt certains cores upsetting the L3 Cache. Ive since dialed down my offset and Im seeing better results.

Thanks. I'm trying out AutoFPS... that app is a god-send! What a genius solution to quality vs performance. I don't need high TLOD when I'm landing at a busy add-on airport in an airliner, but when I'

I'm almost certain the LOD Is more aggressive and the image clarity is slightly reduced in 2024 due to Xbox support.  As much as we don't want to admit it, Xbox sales are what propel the franchise.

I run with everything maxed. TLOD 400. OLOD 200. FG X2 when flying GA. FG X3 when flying 737. Max frames set to 120 for GA and 90 for 737, so I do not hear my fans.

I have pbo and expo enabled in bios. Latest amd chipset drivers, gamebar enabled, hags enabled, and a power plan of balanced.

Same setting as you and have the latest drivers.

Must admit I have just enabled PBO without any under volt of cores, haven't been that brave yet! No increase in clock of 200Mhz either. Would like to max. the performance in MSFS 2024 before taking further Bios changes.

I have the same specs and I just max everything out in both 2020 and 2024.

9950X3D specs or do you mean TheFalXon specs? If 9950X3D what sort of FPS are you achieving?

Little bit of a different build, but i9-14900k and 5090 with 64 GB ram and I just use the optimized settings from Nvidia app and pretty much run everything on high and ultra and the sim runs incredibly smooth and I'm constantly saying, "@#$@$, this looks good" (MSFS 2024).  I don't use autoFPS anymore just don't think I need it now.

So that’s been my question…is AutoFPS hurting me by running or is it better to just leave it off with TLOD and OLOD at 400/200

This is what I do:

  • 60 fps (I don't use frame generation)
  • AutoFPS
  • TLOD 300 on the ground (AutoFPS can reduce to 50 if needed)
  • TLOD 800 in flight (AutoFPS can reduce to 400 if needed)
  • OLOD 1000
  • TAA (no impact on performance, but less shimmering in clouds than with DLSS)
  • All settings max except trees one step less, because it looks better
  • Optionally, you can get rid of visual features you won't likely use or like (e.g. fauna, depending on how and where you fly; you can get rid of displacement mapping if you don't look up close at the rocks; you can get rid of raytraced shadows if you don't think it looks better)

I’m a bit late to this but in FS2024, how can you get higher TLOD/OLOD settings than are available in the settings menu? Is there a settings file somewhere you’re editing?

And how is the poster above me setting different TLOD settings for on ground cd in flight?

Thanks!

I feel like TLOD 400, even with the most powerful system, can introduce stutters.  Especially when you have all the payware, heavy weather and 4k etc.

I always run 200 but try to do 300 if flying more rural.

I’ll probably get roasted a bit for asking this question, but I’m running everything on ultra with high traffic settings on SI and either the Fenix or A350 and some Hayward airports.

What should I be looking at for TLOD and OLOD settings?

I have the Ryzan 7800 and 5090 and I have everything maxed including TLOD and OLOD with plenty of headroom...easily 60fps locked.  I could not do this with my 4090.  And I have tons of addons.

I should add I use lossless scaling but not sure if I need it.  I also use 4096 x 2160 with max sharpening.

One thing I have encountered and don't know why is you can do up to 4x scaling but if sometimes switches back to 2x.

That's possible with 400 but not sure if it is system related v apps loaded etc.

Why use lossless scaling vs Nvidia DLSS? Are you using it for scaling, frame gen, or both?

I think I answered my own question from earlier today… MSFS_AutoFPS sounds like a very clever way to optimize TLOD/OLOD in various situations. I wasn’t aware this existed. Very cool.

Is everyone using this? What settings are you using?

I was using lossless with the 4090 for more consistent frame generation.  I was using DLSS too.  I am really not an expert in these things so was basically following what others were doing.
