I don't see the issue.

An update just hit my phone, and I am now in AI hell.  I bought the phone, I pay for the service, but AI now owns my phone. Here's just a few things that no longer work: -Power button - Nope

"There is nothing going on in the human brain that a computer can't simulate."

"Speaking ex cathedra from her navel."  -- R. Heinlein.

From Google AI:

Quote

Thus, "speaking ex cathedra from her navel" could be used to humorously or ironically describe someone who:

Presents their personal opinions as universally true and authoritative, even though these opinions may be based on introspection and lack a broader perspective.

Speaks with overbearing certainty about matters rooted only in their own subjective experience, giving the impression of an authoritative declaration that originates from a self-focused point of view.

It's a colorful way to suggest that someone is presenting their own deeply personal views as absolute truths.

That accurately describes so much of what I read these days.  I may need to use the expression more often.

I originally thought it should be "Speaking ex cathedra from behind her navel" implying a possible cranio-rectal inversion.

Yeah... sorry 'bout that.

Its her opinion, shared by many. Those who believe in some kind of soul, are bound to disagree. Its contrary to their unproven soul hypothesis.

I can forsee a time in the future where robots think, feel, experience emotions and do everything a human can. But some will say, yeah but it hasn't a soul. Will they use that unproven hypothesis to treat such artificial beings badly?

The future AI is going to raise heck if the television keeps showing reruns of Sherlock. They will insist on new episodes or else!!

And it's my opinion, also shared by many, that she's full of it.

May I suggest two corrections to your text above?

"Its contrary to their soul hypothesis."

"Will they use that hypothesis to treat such artificial beings badly?"

It means the same thing, actually has more impact, but is less of a "middle finger" to anyone's beliefs, and avoids forbidden religious discussion on Avsim.  It also avoids taking sides.

But they will insist on TNG, in particular, the episode Measure of a Man."

Broadcast Television started in America in 1948, right about when "flying saucers" full of aliens first began to be spotted. Our TV entertainment broadcasts had traveled up through space, and during the summer rerun seasons these aliens became bored and started showing up to demonstrate their displeasure. New seasons and episodes all year long would probably have kept them safely away.

I always figured the first interstellar war would be due to our constantly bombarding their airspace with reruns of I Love Lucy.

Yeah, they had evolved like Spok's Vulcans and long ago lost all concept of humor and foolishness. And so our "light' entertainment was a new sensation and like crack cocaine to them. Reruns caused severe withdrawal symptoms.

That's the big issue with AI. It is all logic and reason without emotions and subjectivity. And therefore anti human.

150 lightyears, or thereabouts. The signal would be so degraded by that far that it would be difficult to tell from background radiation.

The aliens are very advanced, and are running their own Search for Extraplanetary Intelligence.  They would pick up our signals, decode them looking for any signs of intelligence, and thereby be forced to watch reruns of I Love Lucy.  The next war will be over reruns of M.A.S.H.  It is unknown whether The Simpsons or Gunsmoke will also trigger wars.

The concept of humor may well be unique to humans.  Well, some humans in any case. 😄

Earth may be destroyed by an alien intelligence due to something as simple as the annoyance of an artificial laugh track.
