Fade-In Effect on MCP

Featured Replies

When changing settings on the MCP and center console in MSFS 2024/SU2, e.g., changing the SPD, HDG, etc., the new numbers kind of fade-in instead of the crisp changes I see when doing the same thing with the same A/C in MSFS 2020 (PMDG B777-300ER).  I tried several values for Graphics setting Glass Cockpit Refresh Rate (currently set to MEDIUM) but this has not helped.  I don't have any stutter problems, A/C motion is smooth.

Does anyone know how to address this issue ?  Do others see this ?  Is this considered a bug or working as intended ?

Have you tried without DLSS, using TAA instead? I get this with some other aircraft sometimes when using DLSS.

Z370 Gaming Trident X | Intel i7-9700K | RAM 32.0 GB | AMD Radeon™ RX 9060 XT 16GB

DLSS causes that. Even at the highest quality setting, fonts are blurred and characters take one full second to change...

The only solution is to use temporal antialiasing (TAA) instead of DLSS.

If you prefer to fly tubeliners with glass cockpits and digital readouts, TAA is the way to go. I cannot tolerate the fuzzy digital displays with DLSS, and the lag in response when changing settings is not pleasant. Besides, TAA is fully compatible with Nvidia Frame Generation, if that is your preference, and you can ignore all the frenzy about DLSS swappers and such.

As everyone said use TAA.

Thank you all and it's reassuring to see unanimity.  I will certainly try, actually go back to, TAA.  However, beware that in my case if DLSS is indeed the culprit, MSFS 2024 is a contributing factor to this issue.  I run DLSS in MSFS 2020 and in that environment changes to the digital displays are crispy and clear.

What version of DLSS are you running?  And what version of driver (don't know if you're nvidia or AMD)?

It doesn't matter, don't make him waste hours trying to tweak for nothing pls...

Good question and with all honesty, I cannot tell.  After some research on how to determine the current DLSS version, I searched for file nvngx_dlss.dll to check its version and came-up with four of them.  The root directories of these files and their versions are below:

C:\MSFS24\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\.............310.1.0.0
C:\MSFS24\Microsoft Flight Simulator\......................2.4.12.0
C:\Windows\System32................................................3.8.10.0
C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA..............................................310.2.1.0

Nvidia driver 572.83

As MrFuzzy suggested, I don't want to start "trying different things" for a problem that is annoying but not critical, especially with MSFS 2024 still in flux (the SU3 beta testing threads are quite entertaining and revealing !).  However, if you have any suggestions on addressing this problem, I would love to hear them.

Thanks

Really?  In 2020 and 2024 if I run DLSS at all there is ghosting pretty bad with glass gauges.  I've honestly heard the same from just about everyone.  Except you lol.  I'd love to run DLSS Quality without the nasty ghosting.

Tell me about ghosting....what exactly do you mean ?  Give me examples.

Like what this thread is about... you call it the fade i effect.  It's just the blur created by DLSS.  But you're saying in 2020 when numbers or letters change on glass displays there's no ghosting/blurring?  Cause that's how 2020 has always been for me.  (I've since deleted 2020 but 2024 is the same)

I'm running FS2024/SU2 with DLSS v310.3.0 Preset K, with DLSS set to AUTO. I see no evidence for a the PMDG 777 MCP numbers displaying, nor do I perceive any lack of sharpness in the display. The MCP displays are crisp in 4K, and more to the point, there's no delay between when I turn the corresponding MCP dial and the value being displayed. Could the OP's original observation be associated with a latency problem?

Should be "no evidence for the .... MCP numbers fading in, nor do I....

Let me edit this.  I did not ask him to do anything.  I was simply trying to inform myself ...me...for my own use....as to what version of DLSS / nvidia Driver was being used.

If that does not matter, then thank you for telling me that, that's why we have message boards.   I don't think it is right or proper to tell me what question I can or cannot ask.
