Getting use to MSFS 2024

Featured Replies

Hi

I have finally taken the plunge and installed MSFS 2024, having used FSX since then and got used to it, I am finding it difficult to indeed get used to MSFS 2024.

I am using add-ons like PMDG 777 and find it really annoying you cannot have the 2D pop-out like the FMC, having asked PMDG they say that it is no longer been a feature since MSFS 2020.

I miss many aspects about FSX and find MSFS 2024 a bit overwhelming, therefore do you think MSFS 2024 will eventually allow the 2D pop-outs like the CDU etc?

I also use the CH Yoke, however again I cannot find ways of setting the way you look around the Flight Deck using the CH Yoke like I could in FSX, FS2024 seems more fidgety.

Thanks

Well… you are coming from FSX, that’s a long time ago. It will take some time getting used to all the new stuff in 2020, let alone 2024.

While I can’t say whether the features you’re looking for will ever come to 2024, I can say that eventually you will get used to it and enjoy the newer sims (XP 12, MSFS 2020, and 2024 are all amazing).

Just keep FSX installed and slowly take your time getting used to the latest and greatest. You’ll adjust in time.

Regarding the looking around - if your yoke has a hat switch, you can easily bind it to the “Look up/left/right/down” commands in 2024 to look around the cockpit.

you need to reassign the hat buttons indeed.

Excellent advice, yes I think I do need to give it ago, I probably said the same about FSX when I first started.

@bigifooti Many thanks, I will have ago at that, I also when looking at the aircraft in the external view, to view around it like I could in FSX

Works the same way once bound. Check out a few tutorials on YouTube to get going. It’s simple enough once you know what to bind to.

Making assignments to controllers is dirt simple in msfs2020, but not 2024. In 2024, you can loose all your work that you did creating assignments if you do something wrong. Youtubevideos are a must.

All of these particular videos are less than a month old so they are up to date with latest sim updates in 2024.

Again thank you very much, you did not need to do that, but you took the trouble and I thank you.
